Crazy how fast the NAM flipped and flipped back again.Went from nothing to a full fledged storm again in one run.

The 12z run missed the timed the phase with the Rockies s/w. If 18z to 00z trends as much as this run did, then we are back to Epic winter storm mode.

Perhaps so,some should compile a list of “truths” to post at the beginning of any potential storm to keep us all grounded

Canadian is real close to freezing rain Friday morning. I would be watching things real close as the low pulls away Friday with lows north of Houston in the low 30s. Impacts would likely be minimal unless the low can pull in some more cold air while precip is still ongoing. Road impacts would be minimal.

The change is clear looking at the 500mb pattern, much closer to a favorable phasing than the previous run as the secondary shortwave comes down faster and is a little stronger.

I am wiser now than to get my expectations up, but there may be a ray of hope here. Last night the models down trended because they saw the system digging farther south into baja, leaving the secondary shortwave behind. However, I think I’m noticing hints that some of the models are trending a little stronger and faster with that secondary shortwave, allowing it to catch up and align more favorably, albeit a little later than depicted in the favorable solutions yesterday. I could be wrong, but I think this is what we need to watch for.

Some kind of winter forecasting Bible guide for N TX would be really helpful. I am sure there are some outdated more technical things online somewhere using older models we don't even have anymore. Lol.

I specifically remember Larry Mowry from CBS 11 mention possibly an inch so I went to bed thinking it wouldn't be a big deal. Woke up to a winter wonderland around 7 the next morning.

I can't wait for the rain. Now that's what I call a winter storm with cold heavy rain. I'm excited!!! Just worried about that pesky temp dropping below 32 which will ruin the fun...

Was the 12z RGEM a good run for snow in N Texas? It's hard to keep up!
