Ah yes, the January 2000 noreaster ... not picked up very well by the models. I remember that well, thunderstorms with temperatures in the mid 30's, and then the colder air was drawn in, and ended up with 2" of snow/sleet/slush ... with Raleigh, NC getting 16.3" of snow in 4 HOURS!!!

I have 1 question, Will this SECS/MECS Make its way up the EC? What are your viewpoints for now? I know it can change many times........ And, you mentioned that this Low pressure is ALOT stronger than the PD Blizzard. So, If this potential Storm has the potential to match the January 1996 Blizzard? or Even Better, The Motherloade Superstorm of 1993? Should be very Exciting pattern........

I am hoping that this will be The Blizzard of 2004! :D

without gerring into too much depth this far out there...THE PATTERN is one which would be favorable for an event the likes of which one would have to go back to the Kocin storms of Jan 6-8 1996 and March 1993.

Trying to catch up with all these posts since I last visited. I'm in the piedmont area of NC and I've been waiting like crazy for some (more) freezing temps and snow. **sigh** Pleeeaaaasssseeee let this happen!

Today it's like 73 degrees here (it was near 75 yesterday) :eek:

The setup isn't the same for a 2000 event. IMHO, Maybe not 1993, but 1996 DOES ring in my mind ... Anyway, the potential is there for a BIG event ...

No Problem! You, know, you should visit the Lake Effect snow region, Near Buffalo, 7 feet of snow in 2001! :eek:
