TxTDot is preparing to spread de-icer on the bridges around Austin. The electric freeway billboards are on alerting drivers to watch out for the crews. Guess they want to be proactive just in case we see a little bit of freezing precip.

Same in Dallas. In fact you you see streaks from where they sprayed today.

I keep watching that huge cutoff just off of Cali and keep thinking, "bring that bad boy home!" but it hasn't happened yet.

Canadian is still showing wintry precip in central and southeast Texas, while the GFS came in slightly more moist with a small batch of wintry mix west of San Antonio, but it quickly dissipates it.While the Canadian intensifies the bands of wintry mix as they move east from central Texas and into Southeast Texas.

Use this site for MJO and the affect it has on the atmosphere. Pretty awesome.

The shortwave diving south out of the Northwest just looks interesting in general. It looks rather strong and even tries to close off once it nears the Gulf Coast. I keep expecting the models to pick up more precip with it, but it hasn't happened yet. The Canadian was slightly more aggressive this run than the previous. Here is to hoping the Euro will start a friendly trend at 0z with precip.

I agree, and it does look pretty potent. I feel like it will wring out any moisture that's lingering across the region. It wouldn't surprise me if it produced some light precip when it moves overhead even if the models don't show anything.

The UKMET is pretty aggressive showing a large swath of precip starting in west central Texas and moving eventually into Southeast Texas, it shows up to a half inch of precip in portions of Southeast and central Texas, kinda interesting.

Yeah I think that's all frozen precip too. Looks like it would be a pretty significant event if it verified.
