I'm always reluctant to put stock in this argument... but I think the 18z model runs are whacked and would toss them. They all are way too warm right off the bat and get worse with each passing hour. I wonder if the shallowness of the cold caused issues with the data assimilation cycle? Maybe a gradual warm up is coming and the models are just too fast with it? However, the freezing line is already creeping back south into DFW, based on real time obs.

It's been a mess. DFW got to 34F today and is falling again. That is a far cry from upper 40s to 50F. Where the front is through it's been mostly a nowcast (notwithstanding the boundary to the south). I don't expect tomorrow to be much warmer than today was.

Temp is back down to 29.8 here and the DP is dropping with it (25) under a stiff north wind. Don't think there will be any problem getting stuff to freeze if it falls.

18z GFS came in much colder for SE Texas and LA with a significant winter storm Monday/Tuesday. GFS parallel is very cold as well and also has the storm 8-) .

Crazy to think this could end up with snow in Houston. Does anyone know the last recorded snowfall in this area?

November 13th, 2018 was the last time it snowed in Houston.
