The 14z HRRR shows the freezing line staying pretty stable through today. If you are getting snow or snow/sleet now, then there is a chance you stay that way throughout the event.

This is Christmas morning for winter weather lovers! Snow is coming down in OKC/Edmond area. Forecast is for 2-4 inches along and south of I-44 and about 1-2 in my neck of the woods. Already 1/2 inch on the ground, hopefully will over perform!

32/27 here in Dallas. Even though precip has been lighter at times we’re still holding firm at freezing with some room to drop a little more in heavier precip, based on the temp/dew pt spread. Guess we’ll see if this continues into the afternoon, hopefully it does.

South Tyler getting in on the sleet now.

Nothing behind this band currently this far south so may have break to warm things a bit. At home in Lindale precip likely hangs around longer so temps should hold 32/33 there until later.

30F at the airport.

Not one model even Hi Res short range had 30F at DFW Airport - all 3-4 deg F warmer, shows you they are really out of touch with evaporative cooling dynamics. Smart forecasting is to lean colder in these setups, not just read model temp printouts

I will say there has been more snow than I anticipated early from the NWS forecast, and no rain/freezing rain yet. It appears to maybe be playing it too safe. That said, as I said last night (and proved to be true with temps overnight), things tend to happen to make the forecast verify. So, maybe the round tonight will go too far north etc. But right now, this is great. And they are big flakes you can see looking out the window like a snowglobe.

Still has 3-6pm all rain but it continues to have a difficult time with the upper level temps

So far it looks like everything is training from SW to NE just to the west and north of the metroplex. I’m guessing there’s good totals in Wise county right now. Is this area of precipitation going to gradually move SE into the metroplex? I’m in Roanoke and it’s been pretty light so far and off and on.

Pretty good odds up there you'll see periods of all snow throughout the day before precip ends later this evening. One thing I'm noticing on HRRR is its shutting precip off a little quicker than it had yesterday so by midnight most precip will be beginning to move out from west to east.

The bridges and overpasses are starting to coat over along and north of I-20 where it's sleeting/snowing.

Pretty clear that Mother Nature is beating these Model algos like a drum, colder at almost all levels thru North Texas than models are showing....marginal warm noses are always risky

Yeah, even here in the urban areas the side roads are sticking some which is a surprise to me. Cotton balls moving through the core cities again. You're all snow all day today sir!

The break in precip is what I'm most worried about now, not good since we're up to 36F now and have always been worried about temps.
