wxman57 has officially broken me. Bring on Spring. I just hope it's a real Spring and not an 85 degree "Spring".

The Pacific trades reversing near the IDL. The cold TPV/Northeas Pac ridge will diminish once this settles in and convection wanes over Indonesia. The warm up is associated with the jet configuration back to more Nino alignment.

This will also likely lead to a wet pattern returning to much of the state for February. I don'd mind the warmth much if there's rain and storms associated with it.

Arctic Thunder and I have been battling for nearly 30 years. He's a cold-mongerer deep in his heart, but he's been a good friend for decades. Opposites can get along.

We look forward to many great posts from Arctic Thunder. We welcome him aboard S2K. He will have all full rank and privileges that go with such, including the Snow League. For the Heat Miser, my goodness sir. Could you just give us a chance at some Winter goodness. That sleet ( storm/shower) event was just not enough. Thank you.

That is awesome news ... welcome Arctic Thunder! :D

We are so privileged to have professional meteorologists on our forum.

In other news, both South Texas Storms and Arctic Thunder have been discussing the coming weeks within earshot of my cubicle. I have heard the term "throwing up the white flag". They look very sad.

00z Euro EPS keeps the warm up relatively short, maybe a week? This would line up pretty well with what some others posters have posted this morning regarding the Pacific. Also of note, both the Euro OP and Control show some risk of snow with the OP showing a swath of light snow in Central Texas and the Control showing a significant winter storm across N. Texas and OK. About 1/3 of the Ensemble members support some variation or blend of the OP/Control. So don't throw in the towel just yet on next weeks potential system.

Y’all can wave the white flag, but I will keep waiting for February for big snow chances. The ensembles, the ones everyone is freaking out about because they showed “warm”, are now hinting at a trough carving itself back over the Eastern half of the country. This matches up well with the MJO phases that are upcoming (stormy/cold across the South). Also, the highest heights look to establish themselves over and just west of Greenland and into the Arctic.

Just like when a model shows a huge snowstorm 8 days out, one should not believe any model showing a sustained warm up in the long range either.

I don't disagree that we might see some brief snow flurries with Tuesday's front. Not too different from yesterday, except a good bit drier.

We are very fortunate and blessed we have mets like wxman57, South Texas Storms, hriverajr, and now Arctic Thunder. There are more I'm sure that I am missing but message is same. Thank you for sharing your time with us and expertise that other avenues generally have to pay for!

Welcome to our newest resident cold miser :D. We need to breach this northern wall the Dark Lord of Summer keeps fortifying.
