no offense.. but would basically be a 1 hour flizzard :p There are some indications that some cold may build in western Canada in the long range... that is becoming just a bit more consistent in models.

As Levi (TropicalTidbits) pointed out on a Twitter post today, the problem with a graphic like that showing post-frontal precip is that the surface map is not valid for the same time as the precip. The precip could have fallen 6 hours before, long before the air was cold enough for snow. Let's say that the map with its surface features and temperatures aloft is valid for noon. The precipitation showing up on that map occurred between 6am and noon. The precipitation may have ended by 8am, but it would still show up on the noon map, possibly as snow because the temperatures aloft at noon are cold enough for snow, even though the precip ended 4 hours earlier.

I have snow in the forecast for Monday night according to the National Weather Service. Not that it will happen but we do have the moisture that those up North of us do not have.

Excerpt from Lake Charles NWS AFD:

The majority of the cold air is expected to be shunted off
to the east. But there will be enough cold air that rains are
expected to transition over to snow in the early morning hours on
Tuesday in southeast Texas and southern Louisiana. The possibility
for snow will extend as far south as the I-10 corridor early
Tuesday. At this time it looks like central Louisiana is expected
to receive the highest snowfall totals which are expected to be
around an inch or two. Not really looking for any accumulations in
southeast Texas or southern Louisiana... the chance for snow will
extend down to the I-10 corridor and maybe to the beaches.

Looks more of a novelty than anything with temps above freezing but it's interesting they are mentioning snow possible down to the coast this far out.

Hazardous Weather Outlook
National Weather Service Lake Charles LA
356 PM CST Sat Jan 26 2019

DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday
Rains return Monday ahead of a strong cold front that will drop
down and into the gulf by sunrise on Tuesday morning. Looking at
cold air rushing in with rains transitioning over the snow in
central Louisiana... about an inch or so is expected. Snow
flurries possible as far south as the I-10 corridor in southeast
Texas and southern Louisiana. This snow is not expected to stay
long as ground temperatures are warm and therefore the snow will
melt quickly in central Louisiana.

I hate seeing this thread quiet in what should’ve been such a good winter. Here’s to hoping February is as snowy as ever!

Steady rain here W of austin. Nothing crazy but better than it being dry for sure. I'll update on the rain total in the morning.

Been steady here also most of the evening. They acted originally like it would be east of here. Nice surprise.;) I'll check my totals in the morning too.

If I don’t see anything good by February 8th, I’m throwing in the towel. Stinks but oh well

Winter canceled :ggreen:

Looking a head, this may be a active severe storms season across the south, and southern plains.

Way too early, there’s still a lot of cold air around our continent and doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon!

I’m hoping the towel throw will be reverse psychology as a desperate measure. ;)

It's really looking like winter wx or not, a wet pattern is setting up. Thoughts?

If it's not going to be cold, rain is always nice. Today is absolutely gorgeous. Bright sunshine with a cool breeze. About to go to a park in Las Colinas to throw the frisbee and have some lunch. Beautiful outdoor weather today. Some beer might be involved as well.
