Freezing rain and sleet. The car is already sealed shut in ice.

[quote="Brent"]Y'all got so much precip down there I think it's actually cutting into our snow a bit

Though I had a feeling it would be a slow start and everyone would declare bust and tomorrow night was always gonna be the peak

So far I'm not wrong

——-

The band down by the red river is blocking the moisture return somewhat. I’d take your 8-12” any day

Right which is the reason I'm not like these people online and declaring bust haha

But some people earlier were definitely hyping tonight is the reason I said that. They saw something that didn't really pan out. Or I saw posts about ramping up after midnight. It was better before haha

Those returns down by Temple pushing north mean business. That’ll skirt Dallas on the east side in a few hours and push through east Texas in the early morning hours. Canton and areas east of there will get hammered.

For you Dallas folks, there are increasing returns down by Brownwood. Those will hit in a few hours and drop temps to freezing or below. Have faith.

Hoping enough sleet mixes in to limit power issues.

Ralph, if TXK is any indication, this should be sleet and not freezing rain.

HRRR 6z seems to have a heavy mixed back of sleet/snow and some ice across downtown houston metro, seems like it keeps suggesting the warm nose make weaken enough to have more sleet cut back the icing potential, still would be an absolute mess on the roads

The more sleet and less FRZ RA, the better.

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

MPINGs reporting ice pellets / sleet mixing in rain west of Austin area. Any possible ground confirmation?

Snow in Texas? What’s that?

Don't use my posts as forecast; I'm not a certified meteorologist! I just endorse cold weather, alright?

All observations I note are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

Very light but it's basically pure sleet here. Hope it stays that way when the heavier stuff gets here later.

Finally sleeting in Rowlett. If you stay awake long enough, you can hear the sound change.

RadarScope might be glitching. Precipitation depiction colors are legit all over the place down here

Starting to look a little bit like a winter wonderland here in Denison.

A good amount of sleet (and some snow) has fallen since 12:30 a.m. I dozed off for a little while and when I woke up, our street and yard probably have between 1” to 2” right now.

Temperature is down to 24 degrees at the Austin College weather station located west of town.
