Re: Texas Winter 2021-2022
RAP seems to have a better handle on freezing line/expected progress (a bit faster than HRRR) as of now.

Still trending colder on models for Longview. GFS says 0.42" freezing rain with temps dropping to freezing by 15z Thursday. Other models still playing catch up, but are showing us hitting freezing by 20-21z Thursday. I'm still leaning towards the GFS. All these other reports still support colder sooner rather than later.

12Z GFS for IAH (Bush Airport in North Houston) indicates some precip in sub-freezing air here tomorrow night. Could be light freezing rain or sleet. Very warm aloft, so no snow.

My district (Keller) has closed for Thursday and Friday. They are extremely conservative, so I bet most Tarrant districts will call it now. FW did earlier.

Leading edge of the front has reached San Antonio but the air is extremely shallow and modifying out as it pushes south. Have to wait for a second and third push of cold air later today.

Um, that date. Crazy timing, even for a fantasy run.

Rockwall ISD has done the same. News came out at 11am. Both Thursday and Friday.

Already at 39 IMBY with a dew of 33. With advection and onset of precip I expect the transition to frozen precip to be quick.

I gotta get from Temple to Keller this afternoon - anybody have a “latest time” of departure to avoid any unnecessary excitement.

Probably leave before 5 pm. Nothing's happening in Temple right now for me but ice could start in Keller as soon as 8 pm maybe? Probably leave at 6 at the latest.

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation
Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?
All observations I post are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

I thought you had all but guaranteed that your warm machines would keep Houston out of the freezing rain category.

Does Upsur Electric co-op have their own linemen, or do they use Oncor?
