Stubborn temperatures in ETX.

At 1 PM:

Longview 34F
Gilmer 31F
Tyler 30F
Mount Pleasant 32F

The original forecasted high of 40F has been revised to 38F, which I still think is too high.

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

HelloClint wrote:Hi All - need some advice. I am in Houston looking to drive to Dallas Friday morning/early afternoon and return to Houston early Sunday. It seems Houston and Dallas roads may be OK (I know there's still uncertainties) , but I am concerned with the areas in between on i-45. With what you all are seeing right now, do you think it's possible to make this trip? Any advice is appreciated!

I don't about down in Houston but the weather in DFW on Friday should be dry. Looks like a small chance for a winter mix on Saturday and then the snow on Sunday will start after morning as of now. Always risky with temps this cold because any wet spot could freeze up. Not recommending one way or the other!!

That band of heavier precip is moving into southern Smith Co.

What is the Kuchera Ratio looking like? It's likely up to 14 inches in Central Oklahoma, the Snowfall Ratios are between 15:1 & 17.5:1 there.

I sure was hoping to be above freezing by now.... bouncing between 28 and 29 degrees. Would like the ice in the trees to melt.

A further south shift, like the EPS suite is doing compared to GEFS, makes more sense given the Arctic HP location across the central US

Starting to see water freeze over in shallow areas like ditches. Temp still 28. Still don't see it getting past 29 in my part of DFW, which will be another bust low.

Damn I was hoping we were done with this form of winter weather, I have to go back to work tomorrow. Last thing we need is a repeat of this morning.

Euro is too warm for today. It showed the temperature being around 50, but the actual temperature is around 45 at my location. Looks like it's about 5 degrees too warm in most locations.

I'm watching this too. Such an amazing thing to see in below freezing temps.

It's not showing significant accumulation but the accident in DFW this morning shows how little qpf it takes to cause issues.

Could the outflow boundary increase moisture? Looks like Waco got over .50. Yikes, that's bad.

FW’s Updated short term discussion mentions drier air at lower levels that may evaporate/ sublimate any light precip that falls after this afternoon
