Re: Texas Winter 2020-2021
According to latest NAM, S/W on Saturday may have a little more juice to it than previously thought...could see a few snow/sleet/freezing rain showers across the middle of the State Saturday. NWS offices may bump up Precip chances soon

Damn I was hoping we were done with this form of winter weather, I have to go back to work tomorrow. Last thing we need is a repeat of this morning.
It's not showing significant accumulation but the accident in DFW this morning shows how little qpf it takes to cause issues.
It's just so chaotic the SW flow. OKC has seen constant light frozen precip despite no major system passing by. The cold air and inversion can squeeze it out. Outside of the big systems, anything can overperform (or underperform).
It's never quiet at 500mb.

NAM also coming in much weaker with Sunday/Monday system....not a big fan of that model at that range but interesting that it differs quite significantly, particularly at the surface

Its all Delkus's fault. Once he went public with the snow totals, the strength of the Sunday night storm was pushed to the Wednesday storm.

Yeah the nam is probably going to shift around for a bit while it tries to sniff out that leading disturbance. I still have a feeling the models are underdoing the amplification and southward track, which is an error they’ve made for every winter weather threat this season. But hey, maybe I’m just being wishful

Has there been a consensus of models saying a much weaker Sunday/Monday system? Sorry if I missed that in all the posts....

The NAM didn't show much precip in central TX today until yesterday and some areas are approaching 1 inch already. I expect the NAM to trend wetter as we approach the Sunday night-Monday event.

Here's a couple of pictures. So far so good, no power issues yet and we did get slightly above freezing for a time so there was a little melting, looks like little icecicles are forming on the deck again so I guess it's back to freezing.
I just realized I took this shot from the exact spot that I took the picture of the snow falling down my street a few weeks back..

We only need 2"! Temps cold enough to save every flake none lost to ground decimation. 3" to be safe. 4" would be the most officially since 2010 for a singular event.

Re: Texas Winter 2020-2021
Love that 70 percent of 2 inches and 95 of 1 inch. That would finally break the DFW snow drought. And 2 inches is pretty gravy since as light as it would be it would not compact a lot and cover the ground decently well if mowed. That would be enough to make me happy at least. Lol. I would like more, but that's good. I love they have to put on there a key saying higher percentages mean it's more likely.

Re: Texas Winter 2020-2021
Just think, whatever falls on Sunday/Monday will be on the ground for a while. Add whatever the Wednesday system dumps and we could have snow on the ground for close to a week!! A winter wonderland here in North Texas.

18z ICON....also note models don't usually depict moisture/precip well coming out of Mexico so these accumulations could be higher SW and West of SAT (we saw that today across S Central Texas)

Contrary to how some might look at that, that map is a marked improvement over the 12z
