I prefer this meteogram (12z NAM) much more than the ones wxman57 usually posts.

NWS says a weekend update will be out at 4 PM today, I don't think they will put out watches yet, I'm thinking it will likely be a video update.

That settles it. It is Porta time. Snow. Sleet. Fun times. Time to gas up Champ The Charger. Time to get the Grey Goose Swilling Mets at the PWC doing overtime hours ( Yep Porta, now you have to pay them extra). Dancing. Cat and Dogs living together. Mass hysteria...:)

Whoa, check this wintry photo out. A NASA satellite shot, posted on Facebook by meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan. Look at all of the snow cover in the NE and the building coastal ice:

GFS lol snow/sleet/ice, midweek warm up to about 40, then snow ontop of whatever is on the ground Friday then we attempt at our first single digit March temp of 5F. What a fantasy right?

I made a model sounding off the GFS for next Friday afternoon, when the GFS is again indicating snow across the D-FW area. In that case, the GFS is indicating the entire precipitation column will be below freezing, meaning snow vs. freezing rain/sleet. Of course, it's 7 days out.

The heat lord himself has already given into the force! Posting snow and ice soundings and cancelling DFW schools, Lucy is next.

In all seriousness, Wxman 57, have you heard if they will send up balloons from UH and A&M before the event? That might help the models a ton...

We haven't requested any. I don't see that launching a balloon in Houston (or CLL) south of the cold air would tell us much about the Dallas vertical profile Monday. It would be helpful to have a launch in the cold airmass north of Dallas to verify the vertical temperature profile in the cold air.

Craziness! Check out Niagra Falls! Footage someone posted from this past Monday February 16th. I have never been there, but apparently it is pretty spectacular, especially on ice. :cheesy:
