Yes, but it has been filled in before only to completely die off. I am hoping and praying that this time it fills in for good. It is our only hope of getting something out of this or we are done! Plus, watching every frame of a radar is a good way to go crazy. Hopefully in an hour it will be even more filled in and I can believe it is real and not a trick being played on my eyes.

How do we have this huge system spanning all these states and we get less than a drizzle out of it? TWC has taken notice, they begin immediately decreasing our precip chances in the next hour and continue to do so until it is gone. Looks like this is it for us and we get what really equates to nothing. Oh well, maybe next decade.
Yep its pretty ridiculous. Last week models were showing much of nothing for us and look what happened. For days they have been showing a major if not historic winter storm for most of us and yet have only received a trace of sleet this morning. Guess that's what I get for letting them sucker me in. After all the years of following hurricanes and how horrible they do should have told me otherwise.

WBRZ is suggesting that we may see more precipitation and the bulk of what we get later as the stuff from Texas finally heads our way. I just don't know whether or not to believe them. The problem is that some of the stuff heading out of Beaumont and Lake Charles looked good earlier this morning but it all died out before even making it to Lafayette. Whatever is killing precip off has to go away. I am hearing it is not dry air but I have no idea what else it could be.

The southern motion of the precip seems to have slowed down pretty decent after looking at a full hour of radar frames. That dry slot steadily is filling in. Solid moisture flow still coming out of Texas.
If this could just happen till the temps crash, my hope might be restored. LOL

My aunt just called me and swore it is snowing in Geismar, LA. She said she knows what sleet and snow looks like and she says its snow. I'm speculating…but thats an interesting report .

I'm getting the heaviest sleet I've had all day - and it is pure sleet now, not mixed with rain like it was earlier.

I'm getting texts like crazy in BTR suburbs of people seeing snow.
Radar is filling in FAST. Sleeting here.

Here in Baton Rouge it is a very fine sleet with snow grains mixed. I would not really call it snow until it is flakes.

This whole event has been a buzzkill. Friday was much more exciting.
We seem to do better with a 20% chance than a 100% chance.
I totally agree! This is a huge buzzkill.

Nothing here in north Gonzales. Do notice another dominant tongue of dry air developing on radar moving ene towards baton rouge. This is like watching a few tropical storms/weak hurricanes from years past approaching the coast. Has the look but just cant overcome the dry air that keeps getting entrained knocking it down from developing.

I have my doubts that we'll hit the predicted high of 32°. It's wavering back and forth between 25° and 26° - I don't think any of this will be melting until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. Isn't it supposed to be sunny tomorrow? Beaumont Police Dept. posted this on FB: "City of Beaumont Emergency Operations Center is preparing for 6-9 hours of additional freezing precipitation and below freezing temperatures for the next 18-20 hours."
"For melting to happen Wednesday, it will have to be sunny; otherwise, NWS seems to think it's doubtful temperatures will warm enough to allow any melting. After our 2:30 PM conference, a decision will be made regarding extending the City of Beaumont office closures into Wednesday."

7th and 11th street overpasses are starting to ice over. Patrol officers are slowing traffic down to allow traffic and transportation employees to put chip rock on the roadways. Be prepared to stop.

Road conditions are quickly deteriorating. We have a three vehicle crash westbound at the bottom of Purple Heart / Neches River Bridge. We are working several crashes and ask that people stay off the roads if at all possible.
And I just heard that TXDOT is closing all overpasses in Beaumont.
