Just a cat 4. We need to budge that about a hundred more miles south so that it engulfs Austin. Our fearless leader needs to be re-energized, that would be a cat 5 in the gulf!

Ntxw, what do you think the over/under is on us getting to 400 this next week if there are indeed two winter storms?

Here... this will liven things upAn 8-day snow map... not something out in lala land
If - IF - that were to materialize, I don't think I've ever seen such extensive snow cover across the Lower 48.

The way the models have underestimated the strength of cold fronts in recent weeks - and wondering if there might be some snow/sleet covering the ground - I'm wondering if 40s might be a bit too high.
Ntxw wrote:Just to remind everyone what happened December 2013. A somewhat similar event unfolded as we are beginning to see now. Models honed in as the event was a few days away after losing it. The temp progs were in the upper 20s as it is forecasted now and qpf was within the 0.50 to 0.75. Sleet turned DFW into a tomb of ice, it melted and refroze. We could be looking at a similar event here but perhaps not quite the amount of freezing rain that occurred then but sleet will make the roads quite similar if it falls in such amounts.
