Snowfall so far this season

Coincidence it's right in the area that's seen the least ??

Say it again. We're never going to see that much snowfall in an ensembles aggregate this generation.

Put out a lot of feed. The more the eat, the better. They have high metabolism and need to average like a seed every six seconds to avoid freezing to death.

850mb 0c line sits roughly from Paris to Denton to Eastland. Only a few degrees above that slightly to the east. 925mb temps are in the -8 to -10C range. Surface well below freezing. It's cold.

You're probably right unless we're on the verge of some dramatic shift into the next "ice age", this is a once in a generation type setup this far south!

Has anyone checked on the Heat Miser (wxman 57)?
Is he still on his make believe trip to the Barrier Reef where he is swimming with the Great White Sharks and riding his cycle with the Kangaroos?

I bet the 925 temps are so cold it is flash-freezing anything that tries to melt, keeping things snow. If any pattern in TX could do that, this would be it.

His lack of posting is perplexing, but maybe the cold finally froze his warm heart and he's now up in Colorado skiing the back-country slopes, sipping on hot cocoa.

Re: Texas Winter 2020-2021
Wow, major shift south on GFS-Para. Seems to be realizing, oh, this will be snow, not freezing rain. Seems like a slightly south track change but mostly just expanding snow QPF on southern end. More in line with ensembles and current GFS.
Edit to add: My temp has actually dropped. It went from 24.6 to 24.1.
Dropped. I remember a few days ago when today was supposed to warm significantly. Lol.

From NWS Fort Worth. Put the word out. Skepticism is not going to matter for this event.

Re: Texas Winter 2020-2021
NWS has relented and lowered highs below freezing in the grids across DFW. The airport briefly hit 33F on Tuesday afternoon, has been below freezing since, and the first forecast high above freezing is next Thursday with a high of 33F. Making a run at 10 days below freezing!

As of 10 AM:
Longview 30F
Mount Pleasant 30F
Tyler 27F
Gilmer 27F
That latest GFS run has me at -3F Tuesday morning.
Yup, they have us here in Tyler warming up to 38; however we are still at 27. I don't see it getting above 31-32. No bit of sun at all. We haven't been above freezing now since Wednesday afternoon.

Way ahead of you, I recently put a bird feeder on my balcony loaded with seed. Now if they could just learn to quit fighting over the stuff and dig in...
On another note, the snow seems to have abated in my area. I have to admit, I haven't been this excited for a weather event in a very long time.

NWS updated the highs for today. 36F for Longview and 35F for Tyler. Both still look to be too high. Temperatures have not budged this morning at all, and I don't see much to suggest that changes very much.

Re: Texas Winter 2020-2021
I see no reason why any day would warm up. It hasn’t happened yet in Oklahoma (we’ve been short of highs by 3-5 degrees every single day this week) and I doubt it’ll happen in DFW over the weekend.

Strong CAA is advecting from the North with 1040+ pressures in the central and northern plains. Temps dropping in Mexico, no one outside of El Paso is going to warm up much in Texas.
