*Brennan* - please try to use a little more civilized tone in your debates.
Furthermore, if you wish to add another thought to a post, why not just hit "edit" and add it to your current post, instead of submitting post after post after post? There are numerous instances where you have three or four posts in a row, most recently five in a row just above here (all within a 7-minute span).

Another claim that cannot be supported now is that a warm March and cold April leads to a cold winter.
What does a warm March and a warm April lead to?
If you believe the theory... it hurts your position more than you know.
If the claim is that stange global patterns lead to cold winters I will point to 1941 and 1993. Both had "strange" patterns and lead to winters with very little lowland snow.
My point is... you have been talking about this for a long time and still have almost no proof. Most of your "proof" has been discredited.
I want to know what will REALLY happen in the next year. But your obsession with cold and lack of scientific evidence makes me doubt your theory.

It's been a very wet day today. Pretty much steady rain ever since I got up and heavily at times as well. According to the Covington Schoolnet site (if its rain gauge is working correctly), they are up to .7" today and I wouldn't doubt it a bit. This is definitely one of the wettest days of the year so far.

TT, i dont think you are right about the spring of 1951 because this year wasnt in La nina state. The rate was only -0.4. 1950 was a strong La nina year. I think you are right about 1993 because this year is the closest match than most years.I dont think this winter will be the same as 1993/1994 because La nina maybe will begin developing in the late fall. It sounds like we will have below normal temperature this winter.

Hello Everyone, I had been looking for a weather forum for quite some time now and hadn't been able to find one that is very fun and entertaining. There seems to be a lot of action on here and I think my knowledge will be respected and useful for discussion.
Well I just wanted to know if anyone was a UW grad. I graduated just recently with a degree in meteorology and I am pretty excited to share my knowledge with the crew. Is anyone else on here a certified meteorologist or are we all just mother nature addicts?
Well I hope I am welcomed into the group and can have fun along with the rest of you! I guess I should start using these little smilies as well?

Hey guys... just got back from Spokane.
Not much rain here in North Bend. The flow does not favor us here today.
Glad to hear that you got so much rain down there Andrew. It all helps.
Invisible... yes we might go into a weak La Nina this winter. Time will tell. If we do... then we will veer away from 1993. But there is some speculation that a weak El Nino might return as well.

I am watching to make sure that TheBeautifulPNW is not Brennan.
This looks very suspicious.
Kind of ironic that a degreed meteorologist would show up 8 hours after he left. After being discredited... he may want to start over. This is typically the time he would start posting again after school got out.
No offense. But I will know soon enough!!

Thankyou for the welcoming TT-SEA!
That is nice to hear about your family's move up here. It is a very beautiful place to live in if you settle in the right location. I prefer a country-style area rather than urban areas in the Pacific Northwest because I also love the wildlife. Seattle is a beautiful city but I don't think I would be able to live in the inner city or super-close outlying areas.
I plan on living the rest of my life in Western Washington. The weather mixed with scenery and wildlife here is superb. Also, the weather around here is more complex than many realize. Forecasting in the Pacific Northwest can more often times than not, be rather difficult. As I have recently learned to realize is that this is the most troublesome place to make a 7 day forecast in the winter months than any other place in the U.S. The weather here is so unpredictable and making a forecast for a specific area is impossible in most cases, especially in the winter months. In the winter when we get our bouts with snow, it is nearly impossible to predict who and when will recieve a snow shower. That is unless there is an organized system as there was in 1996. But since then, unfortunately, those types of snowstorms have seemingly become rare.
I am sure you are just fine with the mild climate here TT-SEA after once living in Minnesota.

Actually i was home sick from school all day. I have really bad alergies to pollen and i had a bad cold as well. It isn't fun being sick and not having a forum to come to to keep entertained all day.
