Snowfall amounts along I-44 busted as well, mainly due to poor ratios. Prelimimary reports show the totals were only 7-8" in OKC and Tulsa.
But yes, areas in TX along the Red River into Southern OK seemed to do ok. That's also where the QPF bullseye appears to be.
Projections a few hours before the precip started for me showed fairly broad consensus of 12" plus with a high of 17"! Ended up with 8-9". Nothing to be upset about but your point about the models over doing the QPF seems correct. I can only recall a few storms (winter) where actual precip outperformed.

I'm wondering if it will hold together enough to make it here?

It’s surprisingly strengthening. But hopefully I don’t jinx it.

Snow in Texas? What’s that?
Don't use my posts as forecast; I'm not a certified meteorologist! I just endorse cold weather, alright?
All observations I note are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

So one of y’all is saying February will be wet and another one of y’all is saying it looks to remain dry? Conflicting statements much….

Cpv17 I believe orangeblood was talking about the west coast, in which they definitely do look dry for february

I know right! I think both are correct if I'm reading between the lines. +PNA can be wetter with systems digging, or at least more active, but the seasonal trend especially in the west is continued dry.

Yes I noticed my area says 80% chance of snow this afternoon, that's up from what it was this morning.

Let’s hope that ridge out west doesn’t poke its head into Texas.

Some fat flakes flying around outside, just below snow shower intensity

Ntxw also looks like we get a - NAO signature to develop in early february in combo with a -AO/- EPO / + PNA styled pattern , could keep the southern branch active across texas if we get a - NAO to pop off

It will have a bit of influences the first week of Feb and a mild W-Can but cross polar flow will be ending that quickly. It's truly a good looking pattern. Honestly I'd draw it up just like that for February if given the choice. I don't want the big, dry cold anymore. Give us a lower heights pattern with some cross polar air.
Feb 2010 was comparable by averages than 2021 for DFW yet the low never got below 26.

We need all the precipitation we can get.I bet since late summer I’ve only had about 6-7” of rain here.

Went on a 45 minute walk in 17 degree weather and it was awesome. You won't see me doing that above 80. I did start to see some very small flakes falling and even at home now very light flakes are present, with some sunshine mixed in. Always cool to see snowflakes while the sun is out in Texas.

Looks like our next chance of winter weather will come some time in february, next weekends system looks really unimpressive now even in ensembles , too much suppression

Elevated roads are going to be a problem in Houston. The warm nose mixdown is gone.

Futurecast radar FWIW shows about 2-3 hours of snow headed directly to DFW metro in a couple of hours
