All I want is some thunder sleet. I need to have a Jim Cantore moment. The last time it happened for me was during the record snowfall a few years ago.

Long-time lurker. Appreciate all the wisdom and knowledge on this board. Thought I'd chime in and let y'all know we've had a mix of sleet, graupel and light snow here in Sherman for the last 45 minutes or so. Light accumulations on rooftops/cars. Temp holding at 30.5° for the last hour.

Brace yourselves. Winter is coming... 8-)

I'm telling you there is no congruence between the forecast, special weather advisories, and the AFD. I've talked to several buddies -- private sector mets -- who are "amazed" and "baffled" by this series of products. Their words not mine.

Unfortunately important decisions are going to be made tonight and tomorrow morning in this area regarding education/government based on widely divergent forecasts between public and private sector meteorologists. Recipe for mass confusion.

It is perplexing to say the least. WFO's usually communicate with each other so you do not have situations which you are seeing right now.

As far as schools go, I honestly expect them to not make a decision until tomorrow morning early.

Friend posted a photo on Facebook about an hour ago, Indian Nation Turnpike north of McAlester, Okla (90 miles north of me) already getting covered with sleet.

First school closings are coming in, so far all north of the Red River in Oklahoma.

Here we go. We're experiencing occasionally moderate freezing rain and sleet now in Denison. Already some ice building on deck furniture, vehicles and trees. A light film of sleet has formed on the deck. Very cold and windy.

Can't decide if I should pull an all-nighter or wake up around three to witness thundersleet. Tough call.
Edit: Who am I kidding, sleep wins. Alarm set for three.

My wife and I have my belated work holiday party tonight near DFW. It gets out at ten so I told her we would probably see some ice on the way home.
These temps are falling quick!! Wind is strong here in GP.
