Weak...come on...tough it a bit.

:D

LOL! Cold down in New Orleans meant temps in the 30's/40's, not teens. But the good thing is that the garage door is not frozen shut. Just about 6 inches of sleet piled up against it though. We can play ice hockey on the driveway. :)

KXAN is now showing a 60% chance of snow for Austin on Thursday. :D

They must be basing that on the Crazy Canadian. Every other model suggests very little or no snow for us. Too far inland.

Do you think most of the models are still underestimating the precip, similar to the 2004 Christmas eve storm?

Why is DFW still under a WSW? Sun is out.

Here's a pic from my front yard. As you can see, all sleet.

Don't complain too much about the cold down there (it could be sooooooo much worse):

Summary

Wind chill values in the -40 to -45 range tonight and Tuesday morning. This is a warning that extreme wind chill conditions are imminent or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

Details

A ridge of high pressure currently centered west of Saskatoon will drop southward into Montana overnight. Northerly winds ahead of the ridge will give wind chill values at times below -40 to parts of Southern Saskatchewan this evening before winds drop off as the ridge nears. However, the coldest and most sustained wind chill values are expected to develop on Tuesday morning. Southwest winds of 15-20 km/h will pick up early Tuesday morning as the ridge of high pressure moves into Montana. With temperatures dropping into the -30's over most of Saskatchewan overnight this will give wind chill values in the -40 to -45 range :P for southern and Central Saskatchewan Tuesday morning. At these extreme wind chill values frostbite on exposed skin may occur in less than 10 minutes. Wind chill values will moderate somewhat throughout the day, but will still remain cold..With values in the -30's expected Tuesday afternoon.

Exposed skin can freeze in minutes when it's that cold.

And people in southwestern Saskatchewan have had to bare the freezing temperatures with no power. SaskPower says a 72,000-volt transmission line was out on Monday morning in the area between Maple Creek and Piapot. Crews were having trouble getting to the site as it became inaccessible after the heavy snow last week.

Good to see you back and posting vbhoutex! I kinda thought my turbines and fans were doing a pretty good job! ;D (I just wish they'd skip hitting my location first.

Anyways I hope all of you get the snow (and skip that sleet).

And I shudder to think how the peeps in that area of Saskatchewan are surviving (I know most wont have fireplaces and they can't get out and help can't get to their location and their furnaces depend on electricity to run). :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold:

Two places...1st place is that huge body of water known as the Pacific. 700mb flow will be sucking in Pacific moisture...moistening up the column. 2nd place is the Gulf. The low will throw plenty of moisture in.

This is very similar to Christmas 2004...but perhaps with a little more moisture available...and colder temps (so a higher ratio).

It sure is beautiful outside right now just north of Dallas. Snow flurry has been going on for awhile now. Went outside to walk around in it all and it is SLICK. Everything is covered in at least a 1/2 to 3/4'' of ice and with some snow on top of it.
