Portastrom, what say you?

I say ... bring it on! And I hope some comes down during the day cause I'm tired of taking snow pics at 4am lol!!!

I *knew* what was gonna happen today - rain, wind cold clear! Sun is out.

Neighbor lost most of their fence last night....

I would agree about the moisture not having completely left Central TX; our dewpoints are still in the teens & I don't expect them to go any lower. Just south & east of here they are in the 20s.

Gracias! We are south of Houston proper (and obviously south of I-10), and the way you guys have been talking, it sounded like we might get walloped due to our proximity to the coast and the increasing moisture in the models.

I'm not seeing this "increasing moisture in the models." What are you looking at?

I live in Angleton as well (off of Manor Dr). I think we are looking at similar amounts...maybe 2" or so...but the potential is for much more. If I were to find out on Friday we had had 5-7"...I wouldn't be shocked. It all depends on how the meso-bands fall out. It will be plenty cold throughout the air column...cold ground (no melting) and plenty moist. All the variables are there...we just have to wait and see if the models respond.

I got a squigee and bucket for warm tap water to 'zam' the surface before we skate - hopefully tomorrow.

Very cool! The link isn't working, though. I'd love to see it!

Poor Portastorm. A lot of chatter about SE TX but not central Texas. Sucks having to live just far enough from the gulf for no benefit or just not cold enough for upper level lows. Lets do a snow dance for AUS!

ECMWF shows 0.02 qpf for austin. Maybe we can inflate that!

All models are a little wetter...especially with their 700MB RH's. NAM is much wetter...especially with QPF and snow totals to the E and NE of HOU. GFS QPF went way up from 06z...with >.1" now over all of coastal SE TX. 06z only had .01-.09 over that area...with most of it being in the .01/trace category.

Bundle up! Don't get very many wind chill advisories in these parts.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM CST THIS
AFTERNOON...
...WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST
WEDNESDAY...

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR BLOWING SNOW REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4
PM CST THIS AFTERNOON. A WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT
UNTIL 6 AM CST WEDNESDAY.

THE HEAVY SLEET AND SNOW HAS ENDED OVER THE AREA. SOME LINGERING
LIGHT SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. HOWEVER STRONG
NORTH WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH WILL CREATE AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW THAT
WILL REDUCE VISIBILITIES AT TIMES. IN ADDITION WIND CHILLS WILL
REMAIN OR DROP BELOW 0 AT TIMES THROUGH TONIGHT.

ROADS...BRIDGES...AND OVERPASSES IN THE WARNING AREA WILL BE VERY
HAZARDOUS...AND POSSIBLY IMPASSIBLE. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...KEEP AN
EXTRA BLANKET...FLASHLIGHT...FOOD...AND WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE IN
CASE YOU BECOME STRANDED.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO
THE COLD MAY RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF
PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS...WEAR A
HAT AND GLOVES.

When you say E & NE of Houston would Tyler be to far north for this event Friday?

Most show none, coast event looks as of now.

Figures! Can't get spat on with any kind of precip out here. Did get a few drops last evening though.

Is that light snow that is hanging around in west Texas and New Mexico just going to die out once the low completely moves out or what?
