Just checked outside and my windshield is covered with ice. Called the office and we are open, wondering if they will close early today. It is a state related job so will only close if the state offices do. Porta any insight on that?

Local ISDs and their decisions go a long ways toward what state agencies decide to do. If conditions deteriorate here during the day and ISDs start early dismissal, you can expect similar choices shortly thereafter from state agencies.
I see Burnet ISD decided to call it a day already.

Thx for the report. For now, we'll have to live vicariously through our North Texas friends.

Just went out to start the truck and it's covered it a glaze of ice. I have seen the schools shut down for much less than this looks to be developing into.

Accidents are starting to kick in, heard one was fatal. Can't believe people are trying to brave this.

Growing up, my dad would officiate our tennis court hockey games. There was none of this working from home. Dang you modern technology!

Unfortunately will get worse as people venture out more and more through the day. I can understand some people are Essential Personnel but not sure about the others

Re: Texas Winter 2014-2015
Not going to work because of a weather issue is something unheard of in the meteorologists' world, where we're required to work extra hours because of the weather... Great weather yesterday - got in a good ride with the temperature reaching the low 80s. May be another shot at 80 next Monday, but the next 2 weeks looks generally cooler-than-normal across Texas.
Nothing has changed for Austin overnight. Still only a very shallow freezing layer near the surface and well above-normal air just above the surface. The warn nose over D-FW is rather small, allowing for some snow to be mixed in with the sleet. That warm nose does increase a bit during the day today and on Tuesday, but it remains a borderline sleet-snow event for the Metroplex.

What is the reason the warm nose increases today and tomorrow?

Looks like it is barely warm enough for the rain to not freeze, but that will not last long.
Edit: Looks like ice has formed on the car windshield. It's downhill from here.

SW flow aloft and lack of CAA ahead of the 5h. It won't effect the surface much and what you have, whatever you got will stick around. It will cool again Tuesday night into Weds morning underneath the ULL which is when the snow may occur.

Any chance Austin gets in on the snow tomorrow night or will it be another north Texas event (broken record)?

Any post should not be taken as a forecast. I am just an amateur living the dream.

It's 32 degrees per my backyard weather station. I'm too cold and half asleep to go check what's going outside. I'll sleep for one more hour and then check.
