The thunderstorms across Texas on the 17th?

I noticed snow across NW & Panhandle Texas & into Oklahoma.

There might be severe storms on the Southern Half of Texas as well as you pointed out.

Well most of us don’t live in the panhandle or Oklahoma

Either way, the Valentines Week storm system looks to have a LOT of moisture for the Southern Plains, this could really help us out a lot against the drought.

If we can't have snow, we can take any rain that comes with the storm systems, I really don't want the drought to last through the Spring & Summer.

The WPC is looking promising for next week

12z GEFS still has a strong snowfall signal for Next week for Oklahoma & now into Texas, one member (I've taken it as a extreme grain of salt) has 30+ Inches of snow for Central & NE Oklahoma, mostly along I-44, I have a very hard time believing this, but there is one thing for sure: This storm has a very high ceiling, even higher than the Beginning of February snowstorm.

It's bad when you have to look to half-resolution ensemble members of a model that doesn't do well beyond 4-5 days at full resolution for snow chances in D-FW and eastern Oklahoma. The 12Z Euro has no snow anywhere next week but it does indicate rain ahead of the front. This will more likely be a pre-frontal thunderstorm event rather than a winter weather event.

From what I can tell teleconnection wise, winter is just about over in TX. Maybe we get one more shot middle of the month right after Valetines Day (northern areas), but other than that, the signals (especially coming from the Euro) at least right now are pretty much showing game over after the middle of the month. As mentioned above, could see an early start to severe weather season.

It definitely appears that way unfortunately.

Okay, you snow-loving cold mongerers, I'm back! Your winter is most likely over. Better start looking out for tornadoes instead of snow next week in Tulsa, Brent. Same for all of you in NE Texas. Could be a big severe weather outbreak. The only good thing is that the event will occur between sunrise and noon, too early for any help from daytime heating. Areas farther east and southeast won't be as lucky.

Looks like it's going to be a pretty good widespread rain event as of now. Whoever does get that snow (looking like NW Kansas and Nebraska) is going to get crushed it seems.

It was only a matter of time before the true wxman57 showed up, gleefully touting the end of winter. :(

Well, we still need rain down here so I'm all for rainfall events if any are coming.

The Valentines Week storm system has high Potential for Rainfall for the Southern Plains, the snow appears to be confined to Kansas & Nebraska for now.
