One NWS streak is over for DFW (below freezing) but they appear to keep track of the other streak (at or below freezing). Here’s the NWS Freeze Summary Page for DFW:

https://www.weather.gov/fwd/d32info

Notice how they list it at the bottom and graphically:

Most consecutive hours below freezing: 295 (7 am Dec 18 - 2 pm Dec 30, 1983)
Most consecutive hours at or below freezing: 295 (7 am Dec 18 - 2 pm Dec 30, 1983)

33F now unfortunately. It doesn't make it any less impressive just would have been nice to stay in the books. Like Bubba said of all things to get a few bits of sun at the wrong time! Still got a shot at third or fourth.

PWS are all 25 or 26 around Lindale and Tyler. Tyler airport officially 28. Tyler airport fell to freezing at 4pm on the 11th so now at 48 hours with 6 to maybe 8 days before it returns to freezing. I need to find the Tyler record.

Maybe they’ll asterisk it like they did on the 1942 freeze entry on the “at or below” freezing graph.

That streak (139 hours) has an asterisk beside it. The asterisk is explained by NWS at the bottom of the graph:

* An additional 58 hours occurred from 6 am Jan 1 to 3 pm Jan 3, 1942. The temperature climbed to 33 degrees at 4 pm on Jan 3. Combined with the 139 hours above, this makes a total of 197 inconsecutive hours.

You can see the next arctic blast on satellite pushing through Oklahoma now.

I hope they're right still seeing hints of that dry slot on the NAM :spam:

Honestly I am just ignoring the models on that now for my mental health. I may need a stiff drink tonight and open the almost never-used liquor. Lol.

My temp is now 33 but only an hour left max before it starts to cool rapidly. Above freezing today will be brief.

One thing to watch for, particularly in SE TX, is that second trof passing on Wednesday. Models always try to drive Arctic air back to the north too quickly when onshore flow begins aloft. That's why some have Houston rising above 32F Wed. GFS has all precip falling as rain. That won't happen if the Arctic air is still entrenched. It would be freezing rain or sleet Wednesday. Hazardous driving conditions may continue until Friday down south.

Do you have a pair of ice skates? Or at the minimum spiked boots?

Fwiw icon really decreased totals statewide but maybe it’s just one run. Seems to be a little disagreement on moisture

Got to 31 IMBY. Haven’t looked yet but the clouds are socking back in. Is it enough to clear my sprinkler lines?

To me, outside of the Euro and UK, the overall subtle trend is to increase totals just NW of DFW. Basically to where WPC and the NWS highlights the highest risk for "amounts". That isentropic lift region + ratios.

Down south it's the mixing and the quick drying out that's messing with the amounts. Of course all subject to change.

Tarleton State hasn't announced that the main campus will be closed Monday. Probably won't announce it until tomorrow. They did announce that the Fort Worth campus will be closed Monday so one would assume they will also close the main campus in Stephenville
