What does it show for the Austin area?

It looks similar to the 12z down there, 3-7" maybe higher on the east side, the weathermodels site doesn't have the counties for the 18z runs that I can find. Perhaps a poster down there can chime in.

Prediction time: While I think it could be more, for snowfall up along the Red River near Denison, I'm going with 5-8” for the first storm and 8-12” for the second storm. Total storm accumulation between the two could approach 18-20”, but I’ll be a little more conservative (for now) in the 13-17” range.

I'm also going to go ahead and say that tomorrow evening, the Fort Worth NWS office will issue its first ever blizzard warning for somewhere in North Texas.

As for cold, I'm going with a low temperature on Tuesday morning of -4 in Sherman/Denison. If high temps are lower than currently forecast for Monday, I’d look for a low of -5 to -7 here (given sufficient snow cover and light enough winds).

Took the family for some drive-thru Braum's ice cream. Figured it may be a couple of days before we get out so why not. Can't remember the last time ice cream in Texas did not melt when eating and warmed me up. :froze:

Just so we understand is storm 1 this weekend and storm 2 Tuesday-Wednesday? Or is there 3 weare looking at.

Tonight. Tomorrow and mid week?

Storm 1 is late tonight through Monday morning. This is the Arctic style powdery snow, blizzard like conditions.

Storm 2 is Tues-Thurs. This one is a bigger system and slower moving. It is your more typical Texas snow storm but not as frigid as tomorrow evening.

We are going to get blasted. Know how I know? Simple reason not based on science: I’m cooking a sixteen pound brisket tomorrow.

We seem to be ground zero a lot the last few years... we got 5" back in Dec 2017 and about that a few weeks ago.

I’m calling for 8-10 inches of snow for a bulk of DFW with the possibility for an additional 2 inches in areas of heavy convective banding. Based on the HRRR, NAM, and Globals, DFW will likely see around a 3rd inch of QPF. Given added cold temperatures, I’m thinking snow ratios will be much higher—in the range of 25:1—giving the entire area much higher snowfall. I’m also looking at the convective banding present on the short range models and from moon to 2pm, a strong band could move through northern DFW and drop 2 inch an hour rates along with heavy wind. Snow drifts could amass 2 feet in certain areas with proper wind. This is the big one.

00z HRRR looks about the same as 18z with the only changes being the shifting around of the mesoscale bands within the qpf field.

DFW will be rocking late tomorrow afternoon! Omega maxed out in the DGZ :grr:

Snow measurements should be fun with light fluffy snow blowing up against north sides and bare ground on the south.

The new house is north facing, drifts up against the front of the house and up against the back fence.

It is colder in Bay City, Palacios, and Port Lavaca -- even Corpus and points south - than it is up here at my place. Crazy.

I'm thinking good shot at 6 inches for DFW

For the DFW mid-cities area 4"-5", north of 820 5"-7", and up along the Red River 8"-10". South of I-20 3"-4" with any area across north Texas seeing higher amounts based on heavy banding.

System #2 This system has the potential to drop an average of 7" across the entire DFW area and my be very reminiscent of the February 2010 event with total accumulations increasing as the day progresses depending on speed and moisture content.

Total for the week may surprise many with over a foot in a lot of locations.
