We’re out of the model zone but I’ll leave it here

That would be a lifetime historic event for those of us living in Austin. Hard to imagine what that would be like, after all the years of seeing far out models that never panned out. I'm hoping its all fun:-)

Salmon swim thousands of miles, much of it upstream in swift, inhospitable current.

Oh wow, I got lucky out in SE Austin, no ice on the trees at all. 24.3 degrees though. This better be sleet or snow thats coming.
I actually went out this morning to meet someone for a brunch date downtown, yes I know crazy. Slid briefly getting out of the neighborhood. That was scary. Went slow the whole time roads were wet. Of course I get there and she texts me that she slid in her neighborhood and cancels. lol oh well. I made it back home safely, but getting back into neighborhood slid again. So yeah, don't try, its the neighborhood streets that will get you first.

Stay safe over there in Texas! Looks like we are gearing up for a major ice storm in Lafayette. Last one was in 1997 with widespread power outages. Had some light freezing rain earlier and are now sitting at 33. Hopefully we get more sleet than freezing rain but who knows.. Starting a gumbo now :cold: .

Good luck to y'all. Maybe it ends up being more sleet than freezing rain? Some the higher end forecast totals would be really bad for that area.

From 0.06 QPF, making it over a 16:1 ratio at this point...incredible!

We got about an inch-inch and a half overnight in Norman. Blowing snow and snow drifts make it really hard to tell. Some grass barely has anything on it. Other places have drifts of 3 inches. The roads have about an inch and a half though. I’m not sure how we’d make it to a foot but maybe once this heavy banding comes in, we can get 2 inch an hour rates for a few hours and get up to 7-8 inches before the overnight snowfall.

Snow is coming down harder now yet the reflectivity is not that impressive. We may get to the 2" mark before the big band.

DGZ is wide open.

I've been checking that graphic waiting for an update lol

Looking back, really only the 3k NAM supported the reduction in totals. They usually hug the HREF but maybe didn't want to wait for the 00z run?

Yeah I never understood that either most of the 0z/6z guidance was good last night.

HRRR looking for two bands to move through now...1st b/w 2pm-9pm then a little break, final band moving through b/w 11pm-3am.

Alright make your call - Over/Under 6” at DFW?

7-8". Going over. DFW airport seems to be the jackpot right now I wouldn't bet against it at the official site.

If that SW precip/trowal shield develops and clips us then bets are off.. :double:. We're also likely going to snow in the single digits tonight..
