Massive virga storm setting up west of DFW :) ... I assume that it is virga since I don't see any current reports of snow out in that area.

AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE OVER ARIZONA AND NEW MEXICO WILL
CONTINUE DIGGING SOUTH AND DEEPENING OVER NORTHERN OLD MEXICO AND
FAR WEST TEXAS TODAY...BEFORE LIFTING EAST OVER TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA

ENTRENCHED ACROSS ALL OF NORTH TEXAS DURING THIS TIME WITH MOST
AREAS REMAINING BELOW FREEZING THROUGH FRIDAY. THE SURFACE LOW
STORM TRACK WILL BE OVER SOUTH AND SOUTHEAST TEXAS AND ALONG THE
IMMEDIATE GULF COAST. HOWEVER...LIFT AND MOISTURE WILL CREATE THE
POTENTIAL FOR LIGHT SNOWS AS FAR NORTH AS THE INTERSTATE 20 AND 30

NORTHWEST OF A KILLEEN TO PALESTINE LINE WILL RANGE FROM A DUSTING
TO POSSIBLY OVER AN INCH ACROSS THESE AREAS. THIS INCLUDES THE

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR AREAS ALONG AND SOUTHEAST

SOME UNCERTAINTY DOES REMAIN REGARDING THE EXACT FORECAST TRACK OF

6Z GFS now shows a nice 3" snow over DFW next Wednesday. Is this in better agreement with the Euro?

Yes, it's finally picking up on the shortwave the Euro has been showing for the past couple of days.

austinrunner, I posted about this last night. Yesterday Mabry had the coldest max temp since February 1989.

Thanks! I missed your post. Was there an official NWS announcement that I also missed?

I don't think they did. I never saw one either which I thought was unusual. I heard they had "power issues" at NWSFO EWX yesterday. Maybe they got a bit overwhelmed.

Hope that model run you posted verifies!

Euro was the first model, and it continues for next week.

So does anyone have anyhting positive to say about Waco and accumulation? I've seen a few posts commenting on how central Texas may get more than anticipated (1' inch), but I'm just having a hard time finding a moisture source. Anything i'm missing here?

YAY! CMC AND GFS are coming along for our snowstorm next week in DFW. Hopefully Houston/San Antonio/Austin get some later.

Kool, I'll be looking at them soon.

I must add though this is almost ridiculous.

My work has been closed for three days. Schools closed for three days. My business with my wife has been put at a halt becuase I can't go to the post office...

sigh..

Who wants to start taking bets about when next week's snow event begins disappearing from the models? They love to have that mid range hiccup. Maybe with this week's snow event across the south the models have more confidence to stick with a call, haha

And it looks like you'll be getting more next week.

Yeah Iorange...if we share this system with you, it is only fair you share with us. :) We are even letting Porta have some for his PWC folks.

I'm liking the chances. The Euro has had it for 2 days I believe? and now the other models are agreeing. Which is a good sign.

I will let you know if we start getting any precip here. Right now, it's just cloudy and 14°. The radar does show some snow northwest of here but it appears to be moving north, not east.

Yesterday I had to go check on my cattle in the northwest part of Parker County. It took me 2-1/2 hours to get back to Weatherford, a 13 mile trip. I never got stuck, but I couldnt make it up the hills and had to take a longer way home. That as the first time I had gotten out since Monday and the roads were worse than I expected.
