These bust talks before events are even forecast to start are getting rediculous. If there's no snow on the radar in 6 hours, then you can call it a bust. There's at least a slight chance that the Dallas area could get over 1 inch of snow tonight. Better chances as you head south and east across central and east TX. Major travel issues likely in SA, Austin, and at least the northside of Houston tomorrow.

It's as bad as the hurricane busts and cancels. Then Harvey devastated the state.

Let me provide some perspective. This city has been shut down by 0.07" of freezing drizzle. The most conservative model output I have seen for us for tomorrow shows three times that much precip as a mixed bag. So, it won't take much. And that's the whole point about the Winter Storm Warning being issued and "significant" travel impacts.

Thanks for the insight and I agree with you. Just seemed that they were downplaying any totals. To me, the totals for ice, sleet, or snow seem to be pretty up in the air at this point.

I agree and it irritates meteorologists who give educated forecasts to folks. Much of the state will likely see major impacts due to snow and ice accumulation tomorrow.

It does not take very much sleet with cold temperatures to make roads a nightmare. Even more than freezing in my opinion.

I agree Porta. I've been warning my family and friends in SA that the city might very well be shut down tomorrow. This is looking like a pretty significant winter storm across south central TX. I don't remember the last time EWX issued a Winter Storm Warning.

Why are the models picking up a split in the precipitation when it gets to Austin? Most of it goes east and leaves corpus and Victoria in the clear
