Last few frames look interesting
yep, I was going to post that as well. I wonder what that is? I'm seeing more and more reports of light freezing rain and snow mix from all of the different forums I visit...
In what areas? GLV?
Could this be the low beginning to develop?

Water Vapor doesn't look too good for snow chances at least on the western end of the envelop. Lots of dry air moving in:

I'm concerned about a huge dry slot on the east side of the ULL.

The CMC and Ukmet look very similar to what the HRRR is showing. So I'm still sticking with my 1-2 inches down there.
Let's see.

The moisture will come up from south and southeast Texas. I wouldn't worry about that dry slot too much - it should fill in as the trough becomes a little less positively tilted as it moves out across Texas.

Yeah, I'm starting to get a little more confident after last night. The HRRR and CMC and Ukmet are staying the course. The GFS still has some moisture throughout Texas just not as heavy.
The only really discouraging model is the NAM.

Do you foresee it becoming more negatively tilted?
Also, I noticed on the last 2 radar frames from San Angelo (2 hours newer data than that Water Vapor loop, there appears to be a heavier band setting up just northwest of Sonora.

I wouldn't expect much more than an inch here, but you never know.
Newest HRRR has a band of 4-5 inches just a tad bit north of Austin. Let's hope it's right for Portastorm :]

No, just a little less positive than it is now allowing more moisture to be pulled up from the Gulf but once it gets to North Texas it gets sheared out and I would think precip would abruptly come to an end.

Re: Texas Winter 2010-2011
So uh I have a confession....since this morning I thought the NWS was down, but it turns out in my web address bar I typed "naoa.gov" how? I don't know.
Just noticed it about 6 hours later...embarrassing.
