When can we expect the temps to stop dropping? It's still 36 degrees here in Denton.

msstateguy, judging by the radar trends, this looks like it could get big real quick doesn't it?

Nearest observation to me is Decatur sitting at 34 degrees. Mineral Wells was at 36 last hour and is now at 34.

temps in some areas might drop off a few degrees over the next 1-3 hrs dont expect nothing major, but then as the precip starts to become more widespread we should drop down to right at or closer to the 32 degree mark, hold there or slightly colder for most of the day.

iam putting the final touches on a snowfall map to post shortly, there is gonna be a *red* area BUT just to warn you folks this is all dependant on where the 'snow bands' setup so you could say one place might get 6-9" but then say 20 miles away might only get 3" so that is the tricky part of this pinning down who will see the most.

EDIT: this is worse case, although i do think the odds of this happening are VERY good at this hour. now the temp is also VERY VERY VERY
critical today so if the temp is warmer then i expect by just a few degrees you could see these come down by a couple of inches in any
given location. imo thats why this forecast is so tricky, why the ft worth nws has been careful about what they are saying to this point.
HOWEVER they will likely need to upgrade parts of the n.tx area to a winter storm warn if things keep looking like they do...

EDIT 2: iam fairly confident though with whatever we end up with on the snow amts that the heaviest will be along and nw of a stephenville east
ft worth to denton line...

Dew points are still pretty low in North Texas so the temps should come down as the snow bands move in. Temps might climb a little this afternoon (hopefully not) if the :sun: manages to peek through the clouds, but temps should fall again this evening.

I just woke up to use the bathroom. Looked out the window -- moderate snowfall. Already about 1/4 inch on the ground here in Midlothian.

Sticking on edges of sidewalk and along curb. Sticking even better to cars and the grass.

i just went over and looked at the 06z ruc run its breaking precip out all over n.tx in areas that dont have it by shortly after sunrise... so we should see a rapid increase in coverage in the next couple hrs..
