This really is looking more like a Snow bust, models didn't handle the Temps well and this warm nose was stronger than forecasted. But we have Fridays event to hope for.

It really doesn't matter what the surface temps are since the snow would melt on the way down and turn to rain. It can actually snow in 39F surface temperatures, so upper level temperatures are much more important. Temperatures down below must go below freezing in the total atmospheric column for it to start snowing. Surface temperatures only matter on whether it will melt or not on the ground. But usually heavy accumulations of sleet or snow will stick on the ground if the temperature is near freezing.

I'm only reporting what is happening on the ground. For now, 32 is resulting in rain. 31 sleet. Still waiting on snow to start.

There does appear to be an extremely intense band west/southwest of Fort Worth. That might be our best shot at accumulating snow.

The period of snow is going to be shorter than expected but there could be a 3 hour period of snow rates at 1-3"/hr plus some sleet buildup before and light snow after should get totals over 3" and over 4" in many spots. Just stay patient it is coming.

Back edge of the precip is approaching ftw quickly. No transition to snow yet here. In fact even the sleet has ended and its back to rain. Still holding out a slight bit of hope but almost ready to give up on this one.

Ah, that's disappointing to hear. I was hoping you were getting some snow out there.

I'm done, don't tell my wife, Lucy visited me......

Got to get ready for work. What a model bust for snow totals. Crazy.

Guess Delkus was right.

Till next time.

Edit: Just enough slush on my car to inconvenience me, that's about it.

Got some explaining to do for extended family later today I am sure.

FWD is re-tweeting reports of heavy snow in Frisco and at Coppell. This might be the transition right here.

Not even Delkus was right! If nothing happens, then almost every single model, TV Met, blogger, and poster was wrong. Crazy is the right word.

It may be going back to the original idea when this first popped up of the show starting in the Metroplex but not really getting gong until it moves east. It is hard to go against FWD looks like they were right in leaving it as an advisory. Enjoy a quick bust of snow as it ends and we will see what it does here.
