@TxStormChasers: Low is passing a bit farther south so that means snow south of D/FW with sleet in D/FW. Cold core upper low = weathermans woe #dfwwx #txwx

Re: Texas Winter 2014-2015
When was the last time we went to bed dreaming of 5" or so snow totals only to get 5 snow flakes?
What did we do to deserve this? Did wxman57 hack the models to pull at our heart strings? Who poked the bear?

Don't hold me accountable for anything I post on this forum. Leave the real forecasting up to the professionals.

What a gigantic bust for the weather community, yikes! Don't think I've ever seen anything like this, not only did the models/forecasters fail on amounts, their track of the ULL was over a 100 miles off almost in real time. At least one model had that right, the RGEM

Haha. That was a wasted night. Oh well, you can't win them all. Or any of them this freaking winter. Congrats to the lucky few who are actually seeing snow!
Take some photos.

I remember something like this happening in the late 90s. It's why I never, ever buy in until I see it falling. Pesky temps aloft.

Re: Texas Winter 2014-2015
Had a brief period of rain/sleet mix here at the PWC around 5:30-5:45 a.m. with an air temp of 36.
Sorry for you North Texans who got the shaft. Upper level lows are tricky business and often surprise.

I have been impressed with the RGEM this season
though it can be a bit aggressive with amounts and temps during precip. It never bought into the north trend.

Re: Texas Winter 2014-2015
This system had a better chance at snow than the one coming up Friday. I think we just saw our last chance at Winter weather for 2014-2015.

All still going according to plan here, we just got excited by a few runs of the models that has a slightly too cold warm layer. Now if it is not snow by 9am here I will start thinking bust.

Re: Texas Winter 2014-2015
Current RUC sounding looks nothing like the model projections from yesterday. There's a warm nose about 5000-6000 ft up over the D-FW area this morning. That's not good for snow.
