Schools, I believe, are screwing up atm, by not letting out.

KRLD is now saying there could be up to 11 inches of snow.

Will the Omega Block break over Austin in the next 24 hrs to allow any snow/sleet?

The Aura of the winter that is this year will do the trick for sure! How many times do you see the map msstateguy just posted for North Texas with the bullseye right over the two major counties.

There's some really intense bands southwest of Stephenville. Looks poised to move into the Metro in a few hours.

there are currently 5 major accidents in Arlington and about 3 or 4 minor one...also have 3 or 4 officers assisting motorists in the city somewhere...

the city of Arlington lists all of their active 911 calls online...

All of the Cooke County schools (Gainesville area 60 miles north of Dallas on I-35) are closing down at 10 a.m.

Believe it or not, a couple have already announced that "buses will run at 10 a.m. tomorrow". Seems a little quick on the trigger to me considering what's going on...bet they rescind those decisions later!

Given the radar returns way back to the west and SW, the fact that the storm center is still well to our west, and the fact that OUN NWS says there are snowfall rates of 2" per hour in some bands in NW Texas, I'm not sure those amounts are enough.

May well be a foot of snow in parts of North Texas when this is all said and done...

Don't get me started txagwxman. Just one more 73 year in my lifetime would be a real treat. Then we can bring on the warmth. My pool won't warm up til June at this rate!

Temps slowly marching upward in N Dallas (The Colony, near Lewisville). Up to 33.1 now with a SE wind.

Correction: up to 33.4, just 5 minutes after I made that post.

Let me try this again ... for any of the pro mets, do you believe the H5 low will have enough cooling aloft to create snow chances in Austin tonight? Yesterday, I thought I saw a reference from one of you indicating this low wasn't all that cold as compared to the December storm system.

33.8 Now. Did not expect to see temps rising so quickly, a full degree up in the last 30 minutes. No wonder Arlington is reporting a mix now.

The next big batch of precip. looks like heavy RAIN from the radar returns (SW of FTW). Will be interesting to see if there's a switchover across all of DFW.

Still snow "showers" here in North Arlington.

It's still 32.1 in my section of Dallas. Snow has let up a little from the huge flakes a bit ago, but it's still coming down.

Here's a great radar link that really shows the transition line...Arlington appears to be right on that line for now.
