send it garlands way...as usual we have a umbrella over our headsnot even snowing here now.....
What part of Garland is that Katheria, I'm in the firewheel area, snow is coming down at a decent clip, so maybe it will get better for you soon.

Re: Texas winter wx thread (2009-2010)
HEAVY HUGE Flakes here, very dry, roads in residential neighborhoods around here have a good inch accumulated except for where the cars have all driven which is in one track...
So far we have 6.4" and I predict we will finish around 10 inches...
Starting to here alot about widespread power outages in Parker County... Could be due to heavy snow.

Most of the area including DFW airport is sitting around 4-6. This storm is overachieving

Heavy convection near Del Rio, man this is something to behold. This will make the 2004 storm look like nothing

As for as depth for a larger area, this storm has already past that one.

Re: Texas winter wx thread (2009-2010)
I agree, it is even starting to impress me. It looks like all the negatives from yesterday have been overcome. The cold is there, the moisture is there, and the snow started falling before sunrise (thus allowing for the accumulations to take place more quickly). It really is a great setup for north Texas snow! It is even snowing up here south of OKC now too (and starting to stick), which is kind of surprising. I thought we'd see some flurries at best based on last night's model runs, but I guess mother nature had other plans. lolNtxw wrote:txagwxman wrote:5" in Grand Prairie, TX ... .lights flickering.

Well the GFS had this type of accumulation 3 days ago, lost it, and then came back around to it at the last minute. How many times have we seen that model do that?

Looks like the crazy uncle model run (wasn't it the GFS?) earlier this week depicting close to 12" of snow around D/FW might not have been so crazy after all...

Re: Texas winter wx thread (2009-2010)
I still don't get why FW NWS hasn't updated snowfall accumulation forecasts. Their totals (even the 4-6" to the NW of the Metroplex on the graphic) are being equaled in most places.
And with several hours of more snow to go, not to mention the possibility for some heavier bands developing, those totals could be left in the dust...er, snowdust.
I'd say - unofficially, of course - that at this point 6-8" is likely for most people north of I-20 and 8-12" is not completely out of the realm of possibility for some...
