I'd say DFW has a shot at beating the Feb monthly record.

Ok, now how can their Web site say one thing but then that Public Information Statement doesn't back it up???

Re: Texas winter wx thread (2009-2010)
radar here in Waco shows another solid band forming and heading in the general Dallas direction, maybe a hair south of town, but it appears to be filling in nicely. 10 inches will not be out of the question.

To top it all off, they make a statement that the last moderate snow band was moving through around 1pm. When clearly, according to the models and radar returns, that another significant snow band will move through around 3 or 4pm. Who is running the show over there, jeez!!
The same guys that called for < 1" accumulating mainly on grassy surfaces within the last 36 hours or so!

Sure, I have a thought: if you want winter weather, get the heck out of Austin because you sure won't get any here! There ... that's my thought. Now I'll go back down into my bitter hole and look at my North Texas snow pics.
Don't worry ur not alone..I'm in the bitter hole right with u!!!

That record should be broken in the next few hours, the new record will probably be in the 10-11 range. That is based on new model data and radar returns.

Looks like things are heading that way down there!
And if intensity and duration of the snowfall keeps up well into the late evening hours, who knows, maybe the 12.1" 24-hour record might fall too.
BTW, 4-5" now here in the Sherman/Denison area...and counting!

I'm sure north Texans will be talking about it for a long time. And by looking at radar, I humble at the fact how big Texas is. You look and you think because the back end looks to be around Lubbock or so you think 'oh not long now'. The precip shield size is comparable to some nor'easters in the northeast (had it been that cold I bet the snowfall amounts would be in that frame also). Mets on TV this morning kept thinking there would be breaks due to dry slots, except they kept filling in with heavy precip. I don't think we can see a better scenario for heavy snow in our parts.

I've been noticing the same thing. Earlier, there was a doughnut hole out west where it wasn't snowing, but now that's filled in nicely and the returns show what appears to me to be several more HOURS of moderate snow, occasionally heavy, yet to come.
And I've caught myself thinking the same thing about Lubbock, only to remind myself that Lubbock is a five hour drive from where I live!!!

This is memorable for sure and may very well be a benchmark storm by the time all is said and done...

Couldn't agree more Ntxw. Its coming down at least 2 inches/hour maybe 2.5 inches.

WOW!!!!!!!!!! When is it going to stop. I have never seen this much snow fall in my life!!!!!!!!!!! Just when you think it lets up and just starts up even harder. This is insane.

At my apartments the residents are building huge snowmen and are having awesome snowball fights. I would be out there, but I have come down with something and don't want to make it worse by being out in the cold.
