WOO! FINALLY! I know my friend has told me plenty of times about how San Antonio never gets snow. The drought is over.

I said that earlier, with all this snow and Ice we will stay at or below 32 till Sunday, MAYBE?

That would be a complete disaster, as it would cause temps to be lower than progged next week when at least one or more cold fronts are expected to come through.

Because our temps are already ridiculously low right now, as a result of the last arctic front & wintry precip, regular cold fronts cause wintry precip. We currently don't need any more arctic fronts. If wintry precip continues to fall & reduce temps, normal ULLs, like this one, will provide wintry precip. This entire winter for the northern hemisphere has to be a mini ice age. Models struggle because they've never seen this pattern before. A new bar is currently being set, as far as computer models go.

Yes, and I love it! Wasn't sure how it would hold up coming this far north but it didn't disappoint. It took long enough but it finally got here.

I love it too!
It's coming down at a pretty good clip, however small flakes.
Sticking on sidewalks..

That's how it was with me in Carrollton and I felt the same way but it randomly started to have a few flurries and then just started coming down and I've got about 3 inches now. It seems weird but I'm sure it's on it's way.

I'd like to have a discussion on here about a mini ice age theory. Because something seems like it's happening, but we can discuss once this is all over.

Radar returns says the heart of the metro (Dallas and Tarrant counties) are about to get a heavy dose, thickening band.

^ 7 snow (1 ice but still had some snow) events the past 2 years for NTX with measurable snowfall, it's been ridiculous. Not counting if next week's come into fruition.

Are you talking about the band out southwest by San Angelo?

I think the air is so dry that it just has taken a while for the atmosphere to moisten up and the precip to begin making it to the ground.

Maybe...

What radar are you using? If it's NOAA.gov make sure you have base on and not composite. Makes a huge difference.

Base - http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid= ... 1&loop=yes

Composite - http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?prod ... S&loop=yes

Heh, hadn't checked the Ft Worth NWS accumulation forecast since this evening. They kinda gave up on specifics and now just state 1-3" across the area with local accumulations higher in their forecast graphic. Can't say I blame them, talk about some unpredictable snowfall!

Iorange, that'd be great. Hit me up when this thing's over, before the next one. With snowpack now developing across much of the state, I think the stage is even more set for next week.

2 hours in...2 inches are down in my location south of DFW intl. started heavier in the first hour but has been a consistent 1/2" every 1/2 hour I have checked.
Ntwx says more is coming... this was wayyy undershot by all the pro mets here in dfw... but im going to enjoy it.
It will be interesting to see the effects on the temperatures for sat/sunday they had already knocked sunday from 56 to 48 on ch 8 earlier I believe.

Nope, the one darkening over the south-central Metroplex (mostly Dallas county). Of course I don't know if it's happening given things aren't going the way radar says...

It's called Virga, means as it was falling but it evaperated before hitting the ground due to cold dry air aloft, but as the layers thicken up you get snow all the way to the ground.
