AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
1104 AM CST FRI FEB 27 2015

.UPDATE...

THE HEAVIER AREAS OF SNOW CONTINUE TO MOVE EAST ACROSS NORTH
TEXAS THIS MORNING WITH A BACK EDGE OF THE ACCUMULATING PRECIP
EVIDENT NEAR AN ABILENE TO WICHITA FALLS LINE AT 11 AM. WHAT THIS
MEANS IS THAT SNOW INTENSITY SHOULD CONTINUE TO DECEASE THROUGH
THE AFTERNOON AS EXPECTED. SNOWFALL TOTALS STILL ARE WELL WITHIN
ADVISORY CRITERIA WITH THE HEAVIEST AMOUNTS (AROUND 4 INCHES)
GENERALLY NORTH OF AN EASTLAND...DENTON TO SHERMAN LINE. THE
PROBLEM LIES WITH ROAD CONDITIONS SINCE TEMPERATURES ARE IN THE
LOWER AND MIDDLE 20S ACROSS THE ADVISORY AREA AND THE SNOW IS
STICKING TO ALL SURFACES. FOR THIS UPDATE WILL ADD ONE ROW OF
COUNTIES SOUTH TO THE CURRENT ADVISORY WHERE UP TO ONE HALF INCH
OF SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE. NO OTHER MAJOR CHANGES ARE NEEDED AT
THIS TIME.

You're not done, the NWS continues to ignore the RGEM and are looking pretty bad for doing so. Again, cannot believe we have our kids in school today/busses attempting to drive them home in this! Failure of leadership at most all levels!

I agree completely. I can not even imagine a school bus out on these roads right now. In the meantime, my husband works in downtown Fort Worth- everyone has left his office, but he says he's waiting until after lunch to hopefully miss the rush...not sure that's a good idea, even in an F-250

Might need to attach plow to the front of that F-250...

You could see another inch or two through early afternoon.

Dallas North Tollway just shut down near Legacy. Going downhill rapidly all over the Metroplex.

Starting to see white in the grass in Heath, I'd guess 1/10th inch accumulation thus far.

Rate has picked up also.

Snow is very heavy with some huge flakes mixed in with smaller ones. The area of snow just east of Abilene looks to have increased in intensity so I think we have a long way to go still. Wouldn't be surprised to get an additional 1-3 inches

Snow so far. North of Wichita Falls. Look like it may be coming to and end soon by radar.

Early dismissals at this stage in the game = dropped ball, especially to the north of I-20 and west of Hwy. 75. When things started going south in Weatherford, Fort Worth, etc. the districts to the east and northeast should have acted a little quicker IMO.

I thought the same thing, that the radar returns look heavier near Abilene. If those bands hold together, will push up totals to the west and northwest of the Metroplex for sure.

1-2 inches I'd say and now the wind is starting to pick up
