Word of caution, beware the mid week storm (Tues-Weds). These models have performed poorly the past 5 days. Odds are still low but with favorable snow cover now in place and the fact that models have finished their north trend and have been pushing south via ejection with the cold air each run it's not a simple, it ain't gonna do nothin.

Heavy freezing rain/sleet band moving through West Fort Worth, temp is at 32.1 F. Really lucky it's not a couple of degrees colder or there would be major ice accumulation issues. Most melting on contact

Edit: Temp dropping, now 31.7 F, as band moves through, super cooled rain drops doing work

What are your thoughts on the end of the week system at this point. I know things can change a lot between now and then, but based on what you see now, what are you thinking?

I see the same errors they have been doing. Wrong ejection, trying to drive systems into blocks, and making 1050mb+ wimpy cold air masses.

Is there a chance Austin gets in on the next storm (next Thursday/Friday)?

First time poster, long time follower and weather enthusiast. Wintry mix falling here in north fort worth around 35 and 820 with freezing rain, sleet, and occasionally a little snow. Ice is starting to form on the roofs of cars in my apartment complex.

Sleet/snow has stopped in northern Weatherford. The radar looks like it's ending completely. Is there anything else to expect? NWS says additional sleet/snow accumulations up to 2 inches possible for this evening and the nightly forecast even shows 90% for sleet/snow.

Precip type back to mostly rain with a tiny bit of sleet mixed in as intensity wanes. Hard to tell if the rain is freezing or not as I don't have a thermometer and the ice on the cars is likely a result of the sleet from not too long ago.

I'm sorry guys but I've decided to go to the dark side and join Wxman57's heat army. Having a cracked rib or two from slipping on ice last Tuesday has gotten me to the point where I hope we see nothing in Austin for the rest of this winter. :firedevil: except beneficial rain... :rain: and don't try to talk me out of it. :na: My winter side will return next season but until then, BRING ON THE HEAT!!!

Good than you can have the low track just north of Austin, that way all you get is rain, and North Texas gets snow.

As my gut expected, this system is like the typical spring or summer one coming through. If we're lucky we will get another .05 of rain, everything north and west of us, as the line finally moves , it weakens. :(

.50 of rain would have been nice

Temps are dropping fast behind the trough, already down to 29 F in Fort Worth. Be careful if anyone does venture out tonight, the combination of Super Bowl drinkers out the roads and black ice is not a good combination

Question for you! Since the groundhog saw his shadow and predicts 6 more weeks of winter, did you see your shadow today?
