Or 32 inches in a single snowstorm like they got at Dulles outside of Washington?

Boggles the mind... :double:

Temperatures, if we had 15:1 ratios or more, had the temps been in the upper 20s, we would be talking easily over a foot with the amount of precip that fell.

I'm hearing more water dripping into the gutters tonight than I did all day. Guess the sneaux is melting on the roof?

Still extremely grateful for what we've gotten today though.

Absolutely beautiful, beautiful, beautiful snowstorm.

And in a season that gave us my first ever official white Christmas, who can complain?!? :D

I'm right there with ya... This on top of a white Christmas is like icing on the cake. I would have loved to have gotten a foot of snow, but I am thrilled to death with the 7" in my yard right now. This was touted as a winter with major potential in this region and it has delivered (in spite of several near-misses for us eastplexers). This seems very similar to some of the benchmark snowy/icy winters of my childhood (76-77, 77-78, etc) if my memory serves me correctly. I hope that we get another shot before all is said and done... I hope that Austin gets a blizzard after all of the suffering that Portastorm has endured.

Agreed, on several points.

This winter has turned out to be very similar to several winters when I was growing up in the 1970s and 1980s. Vividly remember the winter of 1977-78 when I lived in Memphis, Tenn. and we got five straight snowstorms (they hit Texas first, then the Mid-South).

Funny thing was they all occurred mid-week if memory serves correct and some local TV personality dubbed the streak of snowstorms as "Wicked Wednesdays."

And I totally agree...Portastorm, you're due man, you're due. We're all pulling for you bro!!!

9.4 inches? wow I didn't expected this much. I went outside to take that one picture, and my pants got all wet from going in the deep snow.

I changed, and am staying in for the night.

Can anyone confirm/report IP in NW Harris or Montgomery Co. I got a report from Copperfield but not sure I totally believe it.

Likely accumulations in progress in Houston County, Madison County.

I'm used to thunder being preceded by lightning. I was outside and heard a rumbling noise and thought it was a helicopter. But then the sound went away, much too quickly to be a copter. But I didn't see lightning. Maybe the sounds was something else.
