Question for you! Since the groundhog saw his shadow and predicts 6 more weeks of winter, did you see your shadow today?

OMG! I just pee'd my pants!!! :roflmao:

I am excited about our potential "event" tomorrow, but I am worried that my area (Denton County) will get little more than light freezing drizzle. Do you think Denton county has a possibility of seeing some snow accumulation?

edit: I see ^... I guess we'll just have to observe the skies tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I had a feeling this would happen... Only saw maybe 10-20 min of light sleet at the house. Everything else was light rain.

I definitely did NOT see my shadow. That means winter is just about over for Houston (after this week).

Not surprising, the southern part of the one has all but dried up. Total precip 0.14 - so at least there is that

Well, that was a big disappointment - after a little bit of freezing rain and sleet, we had 15 minutes of moderate snow, just enough to make the ground a little white. I'd say the Winter Storm Warning for 2-4 inches was a bust.

:uarrow: It was for most of us along the I-35 corridor, but again as I said last night if you got anything it was a novelty if not it wasn't supposed to, dry and Kansas was the idea. Was a good warm up storm, Wichita Falls was the big winner winter wonderland which we still need more pictures of!

I thought it was supposedly over a couple of weeks ago.

You know, before the ice and cold hit. :D

Will file this in the disappointing category, and not bust for Dallas. It will be an unusual winter if we don't see one snowflake.

Only reason not a bust is many pro mets like Delkus called it as cold rain last night. Along with our resident heat miser.

I haven't been checking outside so not sure if we even got sleet. Just a tease to the kids hoping school might get canceled.

It's a bust in Grayson County. NWS had a Winter Storm Warning up for us with up to an inch of sleet forecast and 2-4 inches of snow after that.

They didn't even issue the WSW until 9:30 last night.

Off and on light freezing rain this morning for a while. Then a 1/2 hour of light sleet. Capped off by a 15-minute burst of snow with quarter to half-dollar sized flakes.

We got a 1/2 inch of snow out of the deal, just enough to put a white film on the streets and grass.

If there was a day to bust though..this would be the one..too many people in the streets for superbowl activity. Moving right along to the next..

18Z GFS is starting to catch onto the brutal cold air and snowpack across the central plains for this week, in turn in continues its trend southward with the ULL digging into the southern Rockies. Lots of moisture at the 700-850 mb level lifted up and over the cold dense airmass at the surface across the entire state on Thursday....would not pay attention to QPF amounts at this time. Lots of potential in this setup starting Thursday and lasting thru Saturday for a big part of Texas.

This is for the late week system, just don't think the Tuesday system will bring much in the form of winter weather for those south of the Red River....the Big HP isn't far enough south yet to cause too much mischief but will work wonders in establishing a deep fresh snowpack across central plains.

I think this storm could have bigger impacts than what the eye might see, especially if people have already forgotten about the December storm. People might view this as another false alarm and may not view the next storm seriously.

One thing we can't say is that it's a progressive pattern. It is blocked and locked. Astronomical NPAC block and slight ridging in Greenland. The late week storm is a result of a trapped storm bundled up and goes bowling ball across the nation due to these blocks.

i agree with your point. However "false alarm"? By who? The nws, hrrr & rap nailed it. All that was in dfw was an advisory saying winter mix possible with little to no ice accumulation "up to an inch if snow/sleet possible".. The WSW was spot on too imo. We all knew it was going to be a tricky forecast & a close call, but I don't think anyone predicted much for the immediate dfw area.

Well I was forecasted for 2 inches of sleet and only received .1 of an inch, so thats what I meant.

I just saw at least five snow flurries. I believe this was my birthday present from Mother Nature. She's apparently not able to afford much this winter, but it's okay. At least she gave me one of those fancy singing cards.

EDIT: There is actually an extremely light snow flurry/shower coming down now.
