I've had freezing drizzle here for at least the past 2.5 hours when I first noticed it. I hope it changes to snow soon.

Well radar is now trying to make me look stupider than I am after my previous post concerning radar not telling me we will get snow. Now showing snow moving into W Harris County and it sure seems to be filling in between here and SA. We may have a hell of a mess when daylight arrives because we may now have snow on top of ice.

For what it's worth last years Texas Winter weather thread (I just checked) was 477 pages, for this being a La Nina year we are not doing to bad. And to think we still have next week. Goodnight.

Be careful. That's what we have up here and it's kept school out for almost the entire week. Nasty stuff! The stuff coming out of the Houston area is really unfortunate to hear. It will likely make headlines when daylight comes and things are visible.

Really concered about Austin.. 22 and lt snow officially with visibilities now below a mile (they have been decreasing gradually over last few hours) Underground reports say sleet/ice pellet seems to be the favored precip falling with a pretty decent ice accum on elevated sfc and bridges/overpasses. WSW remains in effect please be careful down there!!!

We have at least 5 in McKinney now and still snowing. Simply incredible "dusting to 1 to two inch" forecast. 3:13 a.m.

I live I-20 East TX and I see maybe a dusting? The grass isn't even a speck white. According to NWS storm total precip, we are in one of the few pixels of grey (not even a trace). This 'artic' blast wasn't all that impressive. No records, a flurry a few days ago and now some more flurries. Hopefully next winter will be more impressive than this.

The artic blast and this event tonight have been more than impressive and will have people talking about it as a winter to remember in history. to say it is not impressive just because your area missed out is just wrong. the metro area was hit very hard on Tuesday and is again tonight.
Everyone stay safe across the state.

Looking at past 3 hour radar trends Dallas county could have some very impressive totals after this is all said and done. Dallas/Addison, Dallas Love Field, and Dallas Executive all reporting below 1 mile visibilities with moderate snowfall.. STILL.

Earlier - this is ALL ice

A few minutes ago, no flash

It looks like it's snowing now, but I was afraid to get out there and check. The ice under the snow is less than 1/4" but you don't need much to land on your butt.
As a side note, I am SO GLAD all my neighbors have brought their dogs in! How can I tell? No town bark half the night!

I feel your pain Turtle. Everyone one east of me in San Antonio saw snow as the atmosphere cooled for snow just after the precip. ended. My typical luck for snow. This happens EVERY time.

G'nite all. I'm going to bed, as I'm gonna try to make it to work in about 4.5-5 hrs.

Here's a slightly updated graphic:

I'm at the dead center of the 4" area in Dallas and as of 3:45 AM, I have 4 inches.

I am not a meteorologist, and any posts made by me are not official forecasts or to be interpreted as being intelligent. These posts are just my opinions and are probably silly opinions.

Glad to have someone share the pain. I just can't believe this though. 20-50 miles in all directions have been having good snow for the past few hours.
