Less than an inch away now. :D

BTW, when was the first measurable snow recorded at DFW yesterday? (meaning when will the 24-hour period conclude?).

Maybe 12.2 inches will occur at the airport but probably not the 13" that I was thinking earlier however...

Trees are falling all across Tarrant County causing numerous power outages. This is getting serious with the heavy nature of this snow.

24 hour record is already broken. We're trying to break the record for any storm total.

I think it was around 2-4 am for the region. Not sure for DFW. 3:53 is what I see for the first reports of light snow last night at the airport.

THIS IS THE GREATEST CALENDAR-DAY SNOWFALL TOTAL ON RECORD FOR
DALLAS/FORT WORTH. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 7.8 INCHES ON JANUARY 15,
1964 AND JANUARY 14, 1917.

:uarrow:

Well, whatever the final 24-hour total ends up being, this storm SHATTERED the greatest calendar day record.

And now just a little more than 3" away from the single season snowfall record at DFW - is there one more snowstorm in the books for DFW this winter?!?

Does anyone know where I can download a copy of "Tornado Archive (DSI-9714)"
would like to do some research into the history, and look for cyclic patterns of tornado generation. This data set is from 1-1-1950 to 2006, is the newest edition I can find any info on at NOAA NCDC.. I cannot seem to get them to answer an E-mail request for a download site or ordering info on the product.

They claim there is no restriction on the distribution or use of the product, but I cannot seem to get a copy of the data...

OK...I am owed one...predicted this last week, and I get missed on a snow band that goes just east of my house in Tomball. Conroe gets some flurries, and nothing here.

Yes txagwxman, you are owed one. Unfortunately we know it doesn't work that way ... because if it did, I'd have a blizzard every week in Austin!

Meanwhile it appears that the next opportunity to be miserable and have our hopes squashed as Lucy snatches the football away from us will be about 10 days from now.

Txagwxman and Portastorm...you both are owed a good one. You two (and so many others) are instrumental in providing information to the Storm2K forums, and for the Snow Gods to ignore you is a shame! I hope you get the snow you want and deserve! :break:

Both the daily and 24-hour records are "history" as it were.

NOWFALL AMOUNTS FOR THURSDAY THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY MORNING ACROSS
THE REGION WERE HIGHEST ALONG AND NORTH OF THE INTERSTATE 20
CORRIDOR. IN THIS AREA...SNOWFALL REPORTS GENERALLY RANGED FROM
6 TO 14 INCHES. SOME OF THE HIGHER SNOWFALL REPORTS WERE
RECEIVED IN AND SURROUNDING THE DFW METROPLEX.

A DAILY SNOWFALL RECORD OF 11.2 INCHES ON FEBRUARY 11TH WAS
REPORTED AT THE OFFICIAL CLIMATE SITE FOR DALLAS/FORT WORTH. THIS
BROKE THE PREVIOUS RECORD BY NEARLY 10 INCHES SET IN 1988.

THIS ALSO BREAKS THE GREATEST CALENDAR DAY SNOWFALL TOTAL FOR
DALLAS/FORT WORTH WHICH WAS LAST SET IN 1964.

AND FINALLY...THE ALL TIME 24 HOUR SNOWFALL RECORD FOR DALLAS/FORT
WORTH WAS BROKEN WITH A TOTAL OF 12.5 INCHES REPORTED FROM 4 AM
THURSDAY TO 4 AM FRIDAY. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 12.1 INCHES SET
IN 1962.

PLEASE SEE THE PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT LINKED ON OUR WEBPAGE
FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THESE RECORDS AND OTHER CLIMATE SNOWFALL
INFORMATION.

Well, it's neat to get to see this. A once in a lifetime storm. My only caveat with this one is the temps could've been a couple of degrees colder. Lots of meltoff getting to that 12.5" I'm right by the airport and there is maybe 6-7" on my deck railing this morning. Not that the storm deserves an asterisk. 'Twas a doozy.
