Looks like 1" at the airport. I still think the airport measuring all round numbers for snow is some sort of a miracle for both systems(or is it?) Never seen it before anywhere else. A little underwhelming considering but did put new layer of snow. Best was south and east as Bubba said. We get to enjoy the snow cover for 2-3 more days before it all melts.

Nasty ice storm down south and southeast.

LCH & CRP show a very warm layer over the shallow cold. This might be a case of the rain being warm enough that it's warming the surface on contact and not freezing, esp if rates are decent. If so, consider it a lucky break.

Looks like the ArkLaTex area is going to jackpot with this system, esp. areas that don't mix with sleet.

Yeah, most model guidance performed really poorly with this event. Even HRRR had issues just a few hours out, particularly around DFW. Was off with core precip by 50-60 miles.

I agree. Here in Texarkana, it has been pouring snow for over 2 hours. Hopefully this means we aren’t getting the ice that was originally forecast.

Precip seems to have ended here. My thermometer holding at 32, perhaps fraction less. There are *some* drops indicating thawing but the ice on the shrubs and trees around me has me very concerned.

Good for y’all. Your neighboring state to the south won’t be able to make that claim for a while longer.

The Southern Side of Texarkana is getting HAMMERED with 2-3 inches of snow per hour!

Yeah, I've heard that Texas won't have 100% restored until at least March . . .

My family across the river from NOLA are having freezing rain. Bridges are being impacted.

In Hideaway we seem to have a dusting of snow, half inch of sleet and huge icicles so think there was some freezing rain. Will the precip back buold ornis there more to come? Forecast called for precip all day but we are on back edge of shield now.

Got maybe an inch in north FW. Folks to southwest probably got almost nothing. At least it’s still the second-most snow in six years. If this was the first event, I would be mad.

Roads are still very slick.

I have a feeling it will warm up more quickly than forecast, likely tomorrow. That tends to happen as systems pull away.

It’s already 22 IMBY.

Looking at water vapor there appears to be a subtle s/w in the flow coming out of Mexico and a few radar returns are popping in front of it. That might be a long shot chance to enhance some backside snow later on.

It does look like another s/w will bring some decent snow to the Hill Country tonight & into tomorrow.

We're hosting a family from Hutto, who we know through my wife's work. They had no power or water for two days, and went under a boil water notice. The warmest place in their house was the pantry, where they , and their two-year old son slept. They got here yesterday. Took them 2 hours to get here from Hutto (normally 20 min. with tolls).

We have been fortunate with the power and water situation, unlike a lot of our family and friends. It's beautiful, but unforgiving out there. Cruel irony. Supposed to.be in the 60s next week!

Here in S.E. Kansas we had another 4" of powdery white stuff fall from the sky last night, 9" on the ground. It is improving though - last night's low was -14 instead of the -20 we had the night before. Looking forward to the mud fest that is sure to follow. :froze:
