Wait, what? Did I miss something? :froze:

Pretty sure that if all of that somehow managed to happen - or even happen in that general direction - then this thread would literally EXPLODE.

I think we'd break the Internet ;)

FRIGID Friday Night Lights in Denison.

Munson Stadium looks like it needs to have a football game played on its turf today!

I see a possible source region in North Asia? Crossing the Bering Straits? Someone can chime in on that model?

So very happy (jealous) for my family and friends in NTX who got to experience a beautiful snowfall yesterday. Porta, I hope you enjoy the localized Winter Storm Warning :D

Another round of Winter late next week.

It's 31 here. Roofs and cars have ice, sidewalks and our street are just wet. So it's the sneaky ice on bridges and overpasses and maybe underpasses. Could be black ice too (I've seen black ice on major roads when the side streets were just wet) but I'm not going out to check!

from KEYE:

From Georgetown Police Department-- All bridges and overpasses are iced over again. Please do not travel if you do not have to. I-35 is temporarily shut down both directions due to traffic accidents.

From Austin-Travis County EMS-- 73 Traffic accidents since midnight. 12 Rollovers, 2 Vehicle Rescues. 2 poss weather related falls. NO TRAVEL PREFERRED.

I will not walk outside until an hour after it gets above freezing. I cracked a couple of ribs last February by slipping and falling on ice despite trying to tread very carefully.

Still a bit of light freezing rain and sleet in Denison. Roads remain pretty treacherous in many places.

Apparently I didn't learn everything I thought I did in that lost bet.

Yep I was wrong and surprised by the tenacity of the cold air at the surface in our area. This is probably a good example of why I should not be making forecasts.

Temps slowly warming now in the metro area. Up to 32 now at the PWC.

Good morning my fellow Texans. Still a winter wonderland scene in North Texas. Fun thing about these long duration events and high ratio snows is they are tougher to melt and you can enjoy them a little longer vs snow in the morning gone before you blink.

Image

Anyway I see our freezing drizzle capital of Texas living up to it's name last night. Stay safe you guys. We turn to mid week, looks like an impressive shot of colder air but there is some light if you prefer spring. Heights lower in Alaska into the gulf of Alaska with a +EPO and the nation will sprout for about a week around March 10th warmth centered along the US/Canadian border. A hint of Spring but I wouldn't get too used to it as SST's do not support +EPO for long.

By the way, looking at this week's cold blast/storm analogs. One stuck out to me like a sore thumb, the second storm March 7-8, 2008. Someone should dig into that 5h pattern  I'm sure Texas Snowman has some fond memories of that one.

Decided to drive to the gym in Richardson about 8:30. Some of the most harrowing driving I've done, and I learned to drive in N. Michigan. Lanes on the main avenues that looked wet were actually ice.

Than about 9:30 it started to rain, the temperature went from 28 to 31, and now it's pretty much all slush.

Yup, 6-9 inches in Grayson County if I remember correctly.

But all I want this week is to get something into PORTASTORM's backyard!!! :D

As of 10:24 am temp at my house rose to 33. Ice is melting. I will need to go outside and check to see if the flowers and buds on my peach tree survived or not.

Precipitation has changed from overnight snow to sleet and freezing rain now. It's starting to build up a coat of ice on everything including trees and powerlines. Also, currently 23 degrees.

They have extended the winter storm warning till 2 p.m. but even though all of Travis is included I suspect the specific concern is for the west and northwest part of the county. It's 35 degrees at my house and I'm assuming most of the city is above freezing now.

I'm really liking the setup for wednesday for a large area of the state, north, central & east tx could be under the gun for some icing and snow on the backside possibly. Looks like a classic overrunning setup for ATX wednesday night.
