Here the pavement is wet but the patio furniture is partially frozen. Some wet, some frozen.

28 degrees seems to be that magic number point where I notice the icing really starts to kick in, assuming of course, the surfaces were not very warm to begin with. You should see that wet turn to ice before too long.

So many unnecessary accidents this evening. Pants on the ground again. DFW drivers were under-warned and unprepared. Be safe everyone.

Getting dangerous across all of the metroplex. Stay home if you can.

One person was killed and two others were injured Monday evening in a single-vehicle accident near Northwest High School in Justin.
MedStar reported that the vehicle rolled over in the 2300 block of Texan Drive as ice was beginning to form on area roads and highways around 5:30 p.m.

I can confirm that this is in the case. I had to venture home in the evening. It was icy on my car and there was some ice forming in occasional spots (most on a bridge), but it was still mostly wet. However, it's very foggy out and drizzling. I can't see it remaining wet for long with temps in the 20s, especially, if it continues drizzling and the precipitation increases tomorrow. However, people were driving normal daytime speed, which I thought was not advised.

Yeah I totally agree with orangeblood .. They've had 6+ hours of the rap & hrrr showing this scenario, so why is it taking so long to update the warning..

Down to 32 here. Seems like Portastorm doesn't expect it to drop much further but if it does things could get interesting.

29 might be the air temperature. The pavement may not be at or below freezing yet. I don't know about the cars though, have they been turned on recently?

I think they were students, my sister said two of them died, but that was what people were saying on twitter not a confirmation.

Guys I live 12 miles west of Henderson. I am having major surgery early Wednesday (5am) Morning @ LSU Hospital in Shreveport. That is about 100 minutes away. I am probably going to have to leave around 3am to get there. My question is will the roads be bad Tuesday night making that trip hard to make in 100 minutes or at all? If so I am thinking of going Tuesday afternoon and getting a room near the Hospital. What say Ye?

Keep in mind I don't know what I'm talking about ... ... but it's certainly possible that areas/stations in the northern and western parts of Travis County and most of Williamson County could get down to 30 degrees or so. My comments about not much impact involve the Austin metro area bounded by Mopac/183 to the north/I-35/290 to the south. You folks in Georgetown definitely might wake up to some patchy ice.

I'm sorry but hearing all of these accidents on the road and now some taking a tragic turn...it's inexcusable for the FW Office to not get the message out sooner re: this dangerous situation. The RAP guidance clearly showed this latest round of moderate freezing drizzle moving through from very early on this morning and for them to not start the advisory until midnight makes ZERO sense. They are the pretty much the end all be all for advising folks in this region and given the guidance at hand, there is no excuse for not getting the message out sooner.

Nws "upgrades" freezing rain advisory to a wwa.. Wow, imo that's probably not enough.

Solely judging by what the Shreveport NWS is saying, if it were me I'd look into getting a hotel room near the hospital. But obviously you have to decide what's best. Best of luck with your surgery.

it's a start though. I'll take it at this point. Trying to explain to my mother that the NWS was full of it was fun this afternoon.
