Snow has pretty much ended here with light flurries hanging around a little bit. It appears we got around 2" could be more but with the strong wind and heavy drifting it's hard to tell. It was a nice ending to winter as I'm guessing this is the last winter threat we have since it appears that it's going to warm up. Enjoy the snow and stay safe everyone!

Warm up next week, maybe another arctic front after that is what I was hearing earlier today.
Ntxw dubbed next week a false spring!

Nothing that SouthernMet posts, is an official forecast, nor does it reflect views of STORM2K.. SouthernMet is just adding to the great discussions on STORM2K.. Refer to NWS for official forecasts.
This storm is busting for the metroplex...with snow. What was predominantly supposed to be a sleet storm is mostly a snow storm.
Criteria for a blizzard warning is snow and or blowing snow at 1/4 mile visibility for 3 or more consecutive hours with wind (sustained) 35mph or stronger. I'd say there's been a good hour so far of that. Though it's more in the 20+mph sustained but the gusts have been there.

Possibly the last round of precip moving into austin, temps 32-35 for metro, no road impacts with this band of heavy rain mixed with sleet. Maybe one more band before it's all said and done.

Yeah, it's really strange. What a difference a few miles can make! Oh well, I can't complain. I saw my snow last week. At least we are getting sleet and not freezing rain.
