The streets here in Tyler are fine...so far. Bridges might have some but they are good at treating the the bridges and overpasses. Really not too bad, at least in our neighborhood.

Few sleet pellets on the frozen surfaces here but the clouds are thing as dry air filters in. I wonder if that batch of sleet will be able to survive the trip across the metroplex?

Light freezing rain and sleet coming down on the SW side of Ft Worth...very brief and not a low cloud deck in sight, Sun is actually peeking through.

Look for a general Western/Central North American upper trough pattern instead of that Eastern Canada (Hudson Bay) to the SW into the Plains trough we have seen all Winter. Very tricky forecast ahead in the medium to longer range for Texas. Roller Coaster pattern looks to continue with a highly volatile and changeable pattern.

I'd imagine the MJO stall in phase 7 is to our favor...Western and Central US focused instead of the East Coast if this were to swing over into Phase 8. Finally a shake-up to this pattern that could be much more favorable than what we've seen over past several years

It’s a beautiful sunny day in north FW. No glaze showing on any surfaces. Lol it’s just comical at this point.

Yep, very strange...haven't seen too many bright/sunny winter days during the peak of a Winter Weather Advisory. Although, if this heavy sleet band stays together, those across the metroplex could get a pretty good accumulation of sleet over the next few hours

While you North Texas folk ponder whether or not your sleet storm happens, down here in the former Freezing Drizzle Capital of Texas, Austin, we're waiting to see if we get any ... freezing drizzle that is. Temps around Travis County are at or below freezing. What is interesting to me is that the NAM again beat the pants off the GFS and Euro. Yesterday morning the NAM was the only model showing the temps where they are. Even my fave short range model -- the Tech WRF -- was too warm. Oh wait, the WRF-ARW2 got it right also ... lol ... but I hardly ever look at that model. I'm told the HRRR last night had things pretty well in hand and its temp forecast verified well.

Trust any of the globals beyond 3-4 days at your own risk. They've been underperforming regularly.

Radar echoes are increasing in the Hill Country and near SA. Think you might get some ice in the next few hours.

I'm sitting at 32.4 at the Portastorm Weather Center. Been that for the last 2 hours but as I mentioned I know that plenty of spots west of Mopac and north of Hwy 71 are below freezing so if we do get anything reaching the ground in those areas, it will freeze.

Sitting at 30 in Georgetown. Waiting to see if we get any of the precip to move in from the SW.
