I guess we have to differ on our opinion of 60 degrees in January.

The WORST kind of day in Seattle is a cold, foggy inversion in the winter. I hate it with a passion. Absolutely miserable. Cold, damp, and ugly. Just gross. And there is no hope of any precipitation under high pressure.

I love snow... but if there is no snow it may as well be warm and comfortable outside. Although frosty mornings and sunny afternoons are pretty nice. At least there is good visibility and sunshine.

Do you guys that obsess over uncomfortably cold weather just hate summer??

The H.A.A.R.P. Project is in no way a conspiracy. In fact, by looking at their web site, it is their main goal, to control the weather. They also have had a goal of disrupting the ionosphere, which is used during the nighttime hours by ham radio operators to communicate with each other. Up until about six months ago, all that was possible. And then suddenly, about an hour before sunset each night, you can't communicate via ham radio until the sun rises the following morning.

Now, tell me what natural thing could be causing that. The fact is, there are none.

On another note, I do not hate on Summer, I actually find it quite pleasent when it is only in the 70-80s. I begin to dislike it when the mercury rises to above 90, then it is just uncomfortable to be outside and you cannot do as many outdoor activities as you could if it was a little cooler.

I added a few more pics over at the yahoo site, if anyone wants to check them out, a few are from snoqualmie pass Dec 2003 when I was driving to Moses Lake. Took me 6.5 hrs to get there, I was one of the last vehicles though before they shut the pass down for almost 12hrs. A little more snow up there then

Uhm, no.

Art Bell is one of the smartest and most intelligent thinkers that you will ever meet. If you do not believe in the H.A.A.R.P. Project and so forth, then you are really only fooling yourself. These things do exist, you just can't be so paranoid about it and all, and eventually you will come to accept the reality.

W13, You are absoulutly right on about this stuff. Some people don't want to believe it out of fear and also they would have to change their way of thinking that they have become accustom to. Sorry for spelling, I'm tired.

Is this a weather forum?! lol. R-Dub, got your email and I'll reply soon. Honestly, summer is my favorite time of year...especially since I'm a teenager. Just to chill and not have a worry in the world is awesome on a daily basis. My favorite kind of weather is heat waves. This past summer was awesome with the one heat wave we got at the end of July. I think we hit 101 F one day, and two other days were at least in the mid 90s. That was perfect weather if you ask me. And the best part of the heat wave is when the cool, marine air rushes in once the thermal trough passes overhead...living close to the Strait of Juan Defuca, winds can gust to 40mph and temperatures can drop almost 35 degrees in two hours. Pretty amazing stuff. I remember July, 1994's heat wave very well. It hit 103 F one day and once that thermal trough passed overhead, the wind gusts were pretty amazing...we actually lost power. That was an amazing heatwave!!! It just doesn't seem like we get weather extremes anymore. Albeit a snowstorm, windstorm or heat wave, things are always modified. What ever happened to the Dec. 1995 windstorm scenarios? What ever happened to the Dec. 1990 arctic outbreak scenarios? What ever happened to the July 1994 heat wave scenarios? Has our climate changed that significantly?!

I remember the 94 heat wave as well. That is when I was still in high school, so I had no worries, just playing in the lake. Now heatwaves and very dry conditions are stressful, when your job consists of keeping billions of little lives healthy (200 acres of grass on a golf course) with a 30yr old irrigation system, there are many sleepless nights wondering if the irrigation system is working. One 90 degree day without irrigation on the greens, and they are toast! And I would be out of a job!! Anthony, enjoy your school yrs  They go quick!

Yeah TT, seems like the older I get, the quicker time goes by! Not to mention the fact that I now need 8hrs of sleep, and having pains in my body that I didn't have when I was younger  After 25 its all down hill if feels like!!

Can't wait to see the 00z GFS! Even though I am not supposed to be looking at the models :D

I still can't believe my high school era is over in less than six months...but it's time to move on...get one step closer to becoming a meteorologist. I'm very excited about the college experience though. I think it will be an awesome growing experience to live away from my parents and to be on my own. But in all honesty, I really like high school and don't want it to end. Just the daily, comfortable routine will be hard to break in June. But there's always room to grow.

I believe in the HAARP stuff to some degree. I marvel at mans arrogance to think he can control the weather. It is obvious, if they have been "controlling" it they are doing a horrible job. At best they will change one thing that will set up an unpredictable chain reation. I have also heard they want to use HAARP as a weapon...direct the deadly frequency (I forget what that is exactly) at masses of people. Horrible stuff, if you ask me. If they could use it to make our area colder, I could almost condone that. LOL!

As for summer I love it, but I like it when the temperatures are almost fall like. There is nothing like a 45 degree morning in the summer to put a little bounce in your step! July 1949 actually got down into the 30s in Bothell on many days! That would have been NEAT. It is a bit of a parodox that the summers around here used to be both cooler and drier than they are now. That sounds wonderful, if you ask me.

Any word on the latest 00z GFS? I have a strong feeling the 18z was just a hiccup...that model run is notorious for inaccurate forecasts. Just keep me updated. If it continues to show a colder trend, I'll have a little more faith that winter's not over. But if it does a 180, I'm done with the GFS model for awhile.

Anthony

This has to be the warmest stretch in our recorded history for January. It is really unbelievable.

A similar stretch of warm weather occurred in January of 1981.

What followed this particular stretch of warm weather, though?

Feb 81 was chilly for the first half of the month. The most incredibly warm January though was 1940...that baby was WARM! That is why I am not totally ready to buy off on the global warming stuff.
