LOOKING FAR OUT PAST THIS FCAST CYCLE...NEXT WEEKEND BRINGS A FAIRLY
STRONG COLD FRONT. WE WILL BE LOOKING AT THIS SYSTEM A LOT HARDER AS
WE MOVE THROUGH THE NEXT WEEK.

Oh, it will. I agree. Many of us here probably agree.

I'm disappointed to see that my dear friend wxman57 interpreted my post to indicate snowfall on the Gulf Coast. I never suggested anything of the sort. I merely shared a forecast written by "experts" who work for the NWS Climate Prediction Center. And their forecast definitely says it will be cold here again. How cold remains to be seen.

I completely agree. We'll have significant cold fronts passing through Texas probably up until May. For the most part, they'll bring lows in the 40s to 50s (with an occasional 30s over the next couple of weeks). A typical transition from winter to spring weather is in the works. I think there's a chance Houston's high might reach 80F next week, but I'm concerned about the cloudcover and lack of significant SW flow at the surface. It's more likely our first 80F day will come the first week of March.

Of course I do ... just having fun back, sir. If there was a tongue-in-cheek smiley, I would have used it for my previous post!

Meanwhile, you're having your way with our temps today. Austin reported 85 degrees in the last hour and San Antonio 92 degrees!! Heckuva way to run a winter.

The scale on the right will help in determining exact snowfall amounts over the next 10 days at your individual locations across Texas or Louisiana.

Oh that is just mean! :P You will pay for this one. I hope Houston has a repeat of 1895 in your backyard!!!! :D

:uarrow: Whoops did not see it, IIRC since Mid November to February 13 I did not approach the 90 degree mark. For January we did not hit the 80 degree mark not even once!

Since there was talk of 1895, here is what the 5h pattern looked like. Classic cold period El Nino similar to 2009/2010 pattern. Blocking over the Hudson and flushing GOA low. Not the recipe for severe Arctic outbreaks, but definitely ripe for big storms.

That is great! We just moved to NC due to job xfer and experienced what a 'real' snowstorm is like. Right now the house is creaking with the 40 mph+ winds with this latest clipper and light snow is blowing. So far I'm loving the weather....its great if you love cold and snow. The weather seems to be pretty active here so far.

CFSv2 says after this transitory +EPO (zonal) the rest of Feb and March are below to well below average. Overall higher heights in Canada and lower heights over the US. Ens trending that way late in the period. Still no changes in the false spring idea =).

Maybe the dry area over Collin County can move too now.

Congrats on the transfer and move.

Bring it! I've still got some firewood to burn.

And I still want to see some snow in the Red River Valley (not sleet and freezing rain).

But more than anything, I want to see a miracle happen down south - even so late in the season. I want Portastorm to get a faith building snow event in the Capitol City.

Yeah, it's getting late, and yeah, the Heat Miser is lurking with his 80+ weather. But I'm still holding out hope that this will be a March to remember. With more freezes that move us up the "Top 10" list and at least some winter weather madness!

:uarrow: Trying my best to fight off the heat miser :cheesy:. I can't promise snow but you can bet once this winter is over it will be remembered as the year where it never quit! From November to April!
