Port! Please don't tell me it is sleeting?? I have to drive to work-I live SOuth and have to go downtown.....

Annie ... join the club! So do I. I'm worried this might be one of those events where we all get to work and then we all get sent home at the same time ... with messy roads ... and voila! Chaos in Austin!

I'm in the southwest part of town and it's definitely mixed with sleet. Went outside and felt it myself.

Seems to be setting up pretty close to what the models suggested at the moment. Good luck to the s/e texas folks on temps, it's pretty warm south of waco this morning.

To be fair, it is warmer than I thought it would be at the onset of this event. Surface temps near 40 around much of the city. Dewpoint is below freezing but not by much (31). Wonder if we're heading for another famous bust?!

Channel 5 in Dallas is showing the snow from the chopper cam... the dark, with the light showing the white flakes. Makes you dizzy, but at the same time, makes you think your about to slip into hyperdrive on the Millineum Falcon.

It looks like the heavy precip is setting up nicely for central Texas, looks like DFW is going for some light snow this morning till maybe early afternoon based on radar returns.

I agree but Iam totally stumped on what that band from Fairfield to Comanche is doing, it is strengthing, transitioning and last few radar returns rapidly move it due northward.

Looks that way to the eye because it's backbuilding and stretching out but it's moving east. You could be right though not sure.

Be careful with Intellicast radar. Lots of virga tends to show up.

NOAA radar shows decent snow bands between FTW and Denton, and west of town. A little concerned for our friends in Waco and Austin this morning. Warmer temps and a fast-moving system may dampen storm totals. Both reporting rain at this hour and probably some sleet mixing in, judging by the heavy radar returns.

I will say this for our friends to the south, it's not as cold here than I would expect it to be for this storm. I was thinking 30-31 when the precip arrives. That's not to say it won't cool fast after the heavy precip starts.

My forecast for Lumberton from NWS

Tonight: Rain and snow, becoming all snow after 9pm. Low around 33. North wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Still there.

But I am ready for Spring.
