Looks like you can make an entire sleetperson family with all of that.

Wichita Falls joins the list of places in Texas with measurable wintry precip this winter. And then...there are two...DFW and Amarillo left.

No more winter cancels, gripes, complaints from folks unless you live in those two places!

The next system to watch the one coming this weekend. It's a similar storm pattern that moves like the one now. Cold air again, the question.

I’m telling you—when it’s cold we don’t have precipitation but when we have it, it isn’t cold enough.

Looks like we are without power till the morning! Sooo many trees snapped on the property and roads up here. Temperature has actually risen to 34 though.

Sleet and freezing rain stopped a while ago but freezing drizzle is really picking up. Trees and branches are really starting to be weighed down.

I think we will have one more big blast in March. This winter isnt done yet. Persistent -EPO i think will help my prophecy come true.

1 week left before this thread closes, and we're 46 pages away from 500. Will we do it? Unless we have a winter weather event, that seems unlikely.

Temperature is dropping here in Weatherford. There was a bit of melting late this afternoon, but my gate and cars are re-freezing now.

Totals across DFW are pretty solidly in the 4-6" range and models are showing another 2-3" of rain by Saturday. Then there will be another solid chance of rain Tuesday/Wednesday, it's not out of the question for some areas to have February totals in excess of 10". Beyond that, models are coming into agreement that we will get a -NAO/-EPO/-PNA combo in early March. That should provide much more in the way of quality cold air to go with this active southern stream. I said over a week ago that I liked this time frame for a Texas winter wx event and I'm sticking to my thinking that the 1st half of March should deliver for DFW.

This will go down as the winter where twice I saw thunder, lightning, and rain at 32 degrees, but no snow.

Something I just wanted to to tell y'all,

I am only 17 years old :)

But, I have been reading and studying weather since 4 so I know a lot for my age. And believe it or not, before jan 2017, I didnt even know that computer models existed besides the rpm. And now, I have mastered them. But I want to thank mister porta for that. He has taught me so much via twitter DM's . LOL. He is a smart fella along with many others are on this forum ;) .
Edit: But with that said, please dont treat my like a teen or young person :). I have been called by many an "old soul still young" lol. Please consider my posts . Thanks :)

I'm in a similar boat as you, I've been doing this since I was 3. The way you talk to adults can really help with how you present yourself. Also, surprising adults with your knowledge of weather(even if they don't know much about it, but it comes up in a conversation.) will definitely give them a sense of maturity( that might be what you meant by old soul). Of course it helps if you develop the ability to grow a nice beard like I did lol.

I am still going to complain since I had to be in Plano this week for work and miss out on the wintry weather! It figures it had to happen when I was gone! I won't be greedy and will be hoping for just one more winter weather event this season.

:cold: :cold: :woo: Finally got some winter precip here in Abilene as well. Had the Ice Storm Warning most of the day, but mostly sleet and snow. Not many wrecks (thank goodness). I can say wxman57 kept his word for Abilene also getting in on the winter excitement this year. Some pics below of what we got here. The second pic is from the top floor of Hendrick Medical Center overlooking the Hardin Simmons University Campus.

I am not a meteorologist. Anything posted by me should not be taken as an official forecast. Get your information from respected sources such as NWS and NOAA. I get my weather information the same way Hank Hill does ..... I look out the window and say ... "YUP".

Had a nice little thundershower this morning. Up to an inch since Tuesday.
Saw a FB post from a friend from last night that said he and his family were driving back from Colorado and got stuck in Abilene in the ice. All hotels were booked. He asked anyone for help.

But they did find a room sometime early this morning. He said he never thought he would be so happy to find a "dingy room." ;)

CRAZY weather up there!

Getting some reports of freezing drizzle in Northern and Western Tarrant county. Caution on all elevated surfaces is urged.

A quick update on what early March Weather may bring. Our Teleconnection Indices suggest a significant Northern Hemispheric Pattern change may be lurking with an extremely negative Arctic Oscillation and an extremely negative North Atlantic Oscillation suggesting a Bridge to Bridge Blocking Regime impacting North America. The GEFS Ensembles are 'sniffing out' this pattern change that may bring a return of "colder" weather across much of North America including where we live in Texas. It's Rodeo time in Houston and I expect both chili and chilly weather may be in the cards... ;)
